LATISHA VALENTINE

The seven territories of Magnolia are widely known for their remarkable differences. Other regions have retained the Kingdoms but were being controlled by the Emperor. There are few who are being governed by the Lord of the State. Edinburgh, on the other hand, as being a region that was built after the Empire, it has no royal monarchy that could rule the land. The Lord of the State was the only ruler that had access to the flows and blockage of Edinburgh.

But, Edinburgh is being considered as a free region. Despite being a territory from the east and a place where people settled for good. It has quite a lot of nobles from different families. It is a place where diversity is open, and equality is being harmonized.

I do remember why the late Duke of Riedensteigh chose this place to settle. Among the territories he handled, Edinburgh was close to his heart. Well, because his wife lives here of course. But, there is something in Edinburgh that outsiders don't really have any idea of. It reeks with rebels with different intentions of overthrowing the land. I also think this could be the reason why Duke Thaddeus Riedensteigh chose this land when the Emperor allowed him to pick a territory.

He cleaned this region with his pure leadership, but after he died, his reckless son replaced him and dwells on the dead for almost five years, completely forgetting what his father had pledged for his wife's homeground.

Habang tumatagal, mas lalo akong kinakabahan. I agreed to what Blessime suggested because they were gaining attention from the passerby. Even if Sir Hasan ordered the Knights to help, it doesn't change the fact that I am standing on the same platform with him.

"Sir Hasan," I said to gain his attention. "May I ask where the Duke went? Did he return home after leaving last night?"

"The Duke is overseeing a matter in the south of Edinburgh. He will return later this evening, your grace."

So, he started investigating that matter. Did he think digging on that problem will earn him another set of enemies, and his family may be targeted? Is that why he let Sir Hasan accompany me?

"Did the Duke really order you?" I said.

Hindi kasi ako makapaniwala. He hates me and why would he protect me? I have to meet him soon to answer my question because I don't have plans dwelling on this matter for too long.

"Yes, your grace. There are also Knights guarding the young lady of Riedensteigh," he replied.

Napamaang ako dahil sa aking narinig. He ordered another knight to protect the young lady? That is very not the Duke. Before, he never really cared about anyone at all, because his attention was all to his dead mistress.

Anong nakain ng lalaking 'yon?

"Is this about the order of the Emperor to oversee the south of Edinburgh?" I asked.

"I believe so, your grace."

His answer is the same as I thought. Roshan is doing this because the Duchy is connected to Edinburgh. Bigla akong nakaramdam na naman ng kaba.

If he is investigating that matter, there could be a chance that it will lead him to my father. I know my clan works discreetly and are professionals for planning their escape route, but I am not confident that Roshan will not sniff it.
