peds (Arizona)

I'm on peds with Arizona today. I went to med school because i loved pediatrics and kids and i'm excited to spend the day with my girlfriend. I see our first little girl, Sage, hiding under her blankets. 'She's six, play along?' Arizona pleads before she enters the room. 'Oh gosh, Dr. L/n, have you seen a little girl? She's six, about this height?' She gives an estimate and i shrug exaggeratedly. 'No I haven't Dr.Robbins. Maybe she's under the bed?' I look under the bed while Arizona informs her mother of Sages condition. 'I'm checking the bathroom.' Arizona smiles at me and continues with her mother. I look around desperately trying to find another place to check before she jumps up . 'Maybe she's in your pocket?' Arizona suggests. I check my pockets. 'Nope, but i did find a lovely chocolate in there!' The little girl pulls the blankets from her head and i gasp. 'Oh wow! Where have you been?' I walk back over to her. She giggles. 'Okay, Sage? I need to check your mark from the surgery.' She inches away. 'Don't it hurts.' She says. 'Well i bet my friend here, Mr. Bear, would love to see it. Wouldn't you Mr.Bear?' I show the girl a teddy that Arizona gave me before we came in. 'Yes I would.' I say in a squeaky voice which quickly persuades Sage into letting me examine her. 'Okay. You look all right. The pain will be there for a while but i have a tip for you.' She smiles. 'Eat all the chocolate possible. It helps a lot.' I whisper. She giggles and I look up to see Arizona watching our interaction. 'Great job today Sage! I'll be back later, okay?' Sage nods at Arizona and waves us goodbye.

'You are incredible with kids, Y/n. When i went back to Sage, she asked for you. By name. That is huge on peds.' I shrug. 'I've always been good with children. I love them.' She puts her arm around my waist and kisses my cheek.

We have a little boy next. He had bleeding in his kidney, but it went away on its own and we don't need to operate. 'Wow, you're like a superhero! Do you like superheroes?' The boy nods eagerly. 'Who's your favourite? Because I think you're a lot like Wolverine, or Spider-Man.' He laughs. 'I like Spider-Man. If i'm fixed, can i eat?' Arizona comes over to my side. 'You can eat, what do you want?'

'Move, I need that chocolate pudding. It's for a cancer kid.' I lie to Steve. He hands me the pudding guiltily and i run it upstairs to the little boy. I'm sitting with his mom while he eats when i get paged. 'Sorry, I have to take this. Bye!' I wave to the boy and his mom.

'Oh my god!' I see a baby with it's arm hanging off by strings. 'Get me the umbilical cord, i'll need around five centimetres.' Arizona orders. I fish it out. 'It looks a bit dry.' I hand it over as Mark Sloan enters. 'It's fine.' Mark rushes to my side and begins to attach the umbilical cord to her arm. After an hour the baby is fine and healthy again.

'You were great today. Did you like it?' Arizona asks me while we walk home. 'Yeah, I love the kids and the surgeries and I especially love my attending.' I look over at her. 'I love my resident.' She kisses me and puts her arm around me.
