Sorry for the long wait! I was travelling for a while and didn't have any motivation.

for ilovetshoeh     Hope you enjoy!!

I'm standing at the door of a trauma room watching the new surgeon, Teddy Altman, resuscitate a patient. 'I don't like her.' Cristina shrugs and walks away from the doorway. 'You.' Dr. Altman points at me. 'I need you monitoring Rollins' vitals every hour.' Assuming Rollins is the patient behind her, I salute. 'Yes. ma'am.' I say out of habit. 'Are you military?' She inquires. 'I did a tour in Iraq before med school.' Smiling subtly, the new doctor walks away and leaves me standing at the door.

Over the next few weeks I begin to gravitate towards Cardio, although Cristina hates me for it. Altman seems to like me more than Cristina, and comes to me for everything. 'L/n.' I hear her call me and wander over to where she is. 'We have a four year old today. Be gentle, and try to communicate to find where the pain is.' I nod at her orders. 'Hey,' I glance down at the chart. 'Tommy. How are you feeling today?'
'Goo. I got lego.' I look over at Teddy, who's urging me to continue. 'Tommy? Are you hurt?'
'Lego.'
'Do you have a boo-boo?'
'Yeah.' He pounds on his chest.
'How much does it hurt?'
'Lego.'
I nod and look at the lego. 'Hey, Tommy? Does it hurt this much?' I take one block of lego and place it down. 'Or this much?' I push a tower in front of him. He looks at his options, then puts the block on top of the tower. 'Boo-boo this big.' Teddy jumps in. 'Okay Tommy, we're going to bring you up to a big rocket ship, okay?' I know from our last peds patient that this is the MRI, so I bring Tommy up to get some scans.

'Anything yet?' Teddy walks into the room. 'Nope, nearly done.' She places her hands on my shoulders and it sends a chill down my spine. 'Oh, look there.' The scans appear on the screen. His heart is very swollen. 'He needs a transplant. I'll call UNOS now.' I pick up the phone quickly.

A couple hours later we find a heart for Tommy. Some drunk drivers kid matched him in Seattle Pres, and the organs wouldnt be viable travelling anywhere else. 'You take it out.' Teddy tells me. 'What?' I look up in bewilderment. 'You take his heart out and we can examine it later. Like a cadaver.'
'Alright. Thank you, Dr. Altman.' I begin to pull out the bad heart when she whispers something in my ear, and it makes me freeze and nearly drop the heart.
'Call me Teddy.'

'You ready?' Teddy asks as she pulls on her gloves. 'Yep.' The hearts on the table in front of me. Its just the two of us in a skills lab. I pick up a scalpel and slowly make an incision in the middle. 'This is the first chamber.' Teddy traces the outline with her finger. Every time she points something out, she gets a little bit closer to me. Her hands, her neck, her front against my back. Until eventually, hours later after dissecting the entire heart, she turns me around to face her. I peel off my gloves and wrap my hands around her. I kiss her. And she kisses me back. And it feels absolutely perfect. When I finally pull away she's smiling at me. 'Hi.' She whispers. 'I- I have to go.' I run out of the room in shock.

That night I lay in bed going over it in my head. I've never done that before, and I'm totally okay with kissing girls, I've done it millions of times. So why is it that I can't kiss her? After pondering this for nearly the entire night I finally fall asleep. Then I wake up almost immediately with the answer.

She's an Attending.

It's a well known fact that the Attendings only sleep with residents when they want to feel powerful. Its stupid but true. I've never slept with an Attending before, I know better than that. So I come up with a plan.

Avoid Teddy at all costs.

'Cristina, I need you to take Altman today.' I tell her. Knowing Cristina, she won't ask why. She'll just say yes. 'Sure.' I roll my eyes at how easy it was. Then I ask Callie if I can be on her service. None of the other residents like Ortho, so she says yes. Then I get through the day without seeing Teddy at all.

I do it again the next day.

And the next.

Until two weeks have passed and I haven't spoken to Teddy at all. I'm sitting down to lunch and Cristina plops down next to me, sighing. 'What happened?' I ask, taking a bite of my apple. I don't really care, and I'm barely even listening to her. 'Teddy's leaving.' My ears prick up at this. 'What?'
'Apparently her contract was temporary or something, I wasn't really listening.'

I pray that this isn't true, that Cristina heard wrong, or is lying. I get through the day just barely, without screaming or running to find Teddy and ask her.

When I get to the parking lot I see her walking to her car. 'Teddy!' I run over to her. 'What, Y/n? Now you want to speak to me?' She turns around in such anger that I step back, afraid she'll hit me. 'That's not fair.' I tell her. 'You kissed me!' She yells.
'You tricked me!' I yell back.
'What?'
'You made me think you wanted me, but ou just wanted the power.'
'I do want you!'
'Bullshit. Just please don't leave. You're the best attending I've ever had. I'll get you anything. A pay raise, a better job, what do you want?'
'I want you!' She practically screams. I take a moment and can practically taste the hope. 'Me? Really?' I point at myself. 'Obviously! I have always wanted you!' I feel myself stepping closer to her. 'This isn't fake, right? You're not going to turn around and laugh at me?' She tilts her head slightly. 'No! I like you, Y/n. And I want you. Now come here.' She pulls me in and kisses me, cradling my face.
