Zack's POV
It's the next day, before work. I so desperately wanted to call in sick, but Henry would not be able to do Sunday night on his own.
Leo didn't show up yesterday evening like he said he would. And I'm grateful. I think I would've punched him. Mabey twice. Mabey with a bat.
Henry's shift doesn't start for another hour, so I have one hour to myself before having to deal with people's shit.
If you couldn't of already guessed, I'm in a horrible mood.
"Morning darling".
I freeze, not hearing the door open. I sigh, gripping the cloth in my hand harder as I continue to wipe down the tables like I do every day.
"It's afternoon" I mumble. "Same thing," He says. I give him no answer.
"You're scrubbing that table pretty hard there darling. Maybe relax a bit" Leo chuckles, placing a hand on my shoulder.
I tense up, quickly stepping away from him and moving onto a different table.
"You okay?" Leo asks. I give him no response.
"You seem pissed..and I'm gonna be honest with you darling, I can't tell if it's your usual pissy mood, or if something is actually wrong," Leo says, and I roll my eyes, my jaw clenching as I bite my tongue.
"Okay, something's actually wrong. Or else you would have insulted me by now" Leo mumbles, thinking out loud.
"Are you pissed at me? What did I do?" He asks, sounding to be walking over. I ignore him, hoping he takes the hint and fucks off.
"Darling?" Leo says, sounding to be behind me. "What's wrong?" Leo asks, and I walk over to a different table.
"Zack"
I freeze a bit. He hardly ever calls me by my actual name. My elbow is suddenly grabbed, and I'm spun around.
Leo's standing there, his usual grin or amused look gone, and instead replaced with a small frown, and a worried look. Well good..Im glad he's not amused.
"What's wrong?" He asks me, and I glare at him as I pull my arm away from him. He looks at me confused, while I just turn back around and continue cleaning.
"How do you expect me to cheer you up if you won't tell me what's wrong?" Leo asks, and I roll my eyes. "Maybe I don't want you to cheer me up".
"Zack" Leo says, turning me around again. I sigh, throwing the cloth on the table, before staring at him blankly.
"Is this because I didn't show up yesterday evening? I'm sorry, I didn't think you'd care" He tells me, and I scoff. "I don't. That's a stupid thing to be mad over".
"Well that's the only reason I can think why you'd be mad" Leo tells me. "Just fuck off Leo. And please, don't feel the need to come back" I shoot him an overly fake smile.
"Zack, what the fuck is going on?" Leo asks, sounding to be getting a bit irritated. Oh, he's irritated? Fucker.
"I'm fucking angry Leo" I yell without intending to. I take a deep breath. "Just leave me alone".
"No," Leo says, and I stare at him. He stares back, seeming to have no intention of leaving.
I roll my eyes, turning around and going back to ignoring him as I clean.
He stays quiet for a few minutes, and I glance at him, seeing him staring at the ground, deep in thought.
I sigh, wishing he'd just go away already.
"You saw Briana, didn't you?" Leo suddenly says, and I involuntarily tense up. Leo seems to let out a breath of relief, as if happy he solved the puzzle.
"Okay, you did. You think we hooked up?" Leo asks, and I stay quiet. "Well, we didn't, okay? If you let me just explain-"
"Leo, I don't care" I cut him off, and I'm suddenly spun around. I place my hands on the table I was cleaning, leaning back since Leo is right in front of me.
I scowl when my heart beats a little faster in my chest.
"Let me explain because I'm not leaving till you're no longer angry. Not at me at least" Leo says, and I roll my eyes. "We hooked up once in the past-"
"I don't care about your ex's Leo" I mumble. "Zack-" "No, you don't owe me any explanation" I cut him off. "Yes, I do".
"No, you don't. Because we're just-"
"Don't say we're just friends, Zack, we both know that's a lie" Leo mutters. "You're right. Because we weren't even friends-" "Zack" Leo suddenly yells, shutting me up.
I stare at him, not knowing what to say. "Let me explain. And for fuck sake Zack, quit interrupting me or else I'm going to get just as pissed. And Im not fun when I'm pissed" Leo tells me, and I stay quiet. What does he expect me to do? Apologise for interrupting? Fuck no.
"She's not my ex. We never dated. I got her pregnant three years ago. Obviously, I wasn't going to leave her on her own. We became close friends, and both agreed dating was not something we were interested in" Leo says, and I freeze slightly, hoping I'm hiding my surprise. He has a kid...Leo has a fucking kid?!-
"Six months along she went into early labour and the baby didn't make it" Leo says, and I feel the colour drain from my face. "We stayed friends over the years. Distant friends. But every year on the same date, we meet up to talk because it was estimated to be her due date".
He stares at me, and I stare back, not knowing what to do. I don't think I've ever felt like such an asshole before.
I glance down, away from Leo's eyes.
"I'm over it. I'm not upset anymore. Don't pity me" Leo tells me, and I nod, clearing my throat. "I don't care, but if I did I'd be very sorry for being an asshole" I mumble. I glance up for a second, seeing Leo smiling. "I'd forgive you. But you don't care so.."
I nod, and Leo then lifts my chin up. "So we're good?" He asks, and I nod. His eyes study my face before he chuckles. "You're embarrassed, aren't you?".
"Of course, I am, asshole" I mutter, before wrapping my arms around his neck and hugging him. He hugs me back, chucking quietly.
