Zack's POV
I'm an idiot.
A fucking idiot.
I stare out at the bar, that's gotten pretty busy in the last hour. It's normal for a Saturday night, however.
I think back to the kiss me and Leo shared just a few hours ago.
Idiot.
I'm going to get played, I just know it. I know Leo's type. The tattoos, the ego, the looks. Literally every player in every movie. Ever.
And if I end up looking like a fool because of him, I swear I will actually kill him.
But I already...dont-not like him- you know what? Fuck it, I like him. And I've kissed the guy twice. Well..twice, excluding the night we met. That doesn't count though. I've mostly blocked that night out from my memory.
I need to stop. Stop kissing the prick. Distance myself, I can not- will not get hurt.
"Evening darling".
I jump slightly, startled. I look up seeing Leo take a seat in front of me. "It's Zack," I tell him.
"I prefer darling. And I know you do to" Leo says, and I scowl.
I grab him a glass, filling it with coke before placing it in front of him. "You can have a grown-up drink when you act mature," I tell him, and he smiles, taking a sip of the drink, not seeming to care that it is alcohol-free.
Why am I even entertaining him?
I need to ignore him till he fucks off.
Get it together.
I turn away from him, making other orders. Twenty minutes go by before I stop getting fired orders every left, right and centre.
I glance at Leo, who's still sitting there, drumming his index fingers against the bar top quietly as he looks around.
"Why are you just sitting there?" I ask him, and he smiles at me. "You want me to talk to you?".
I freeze. "No- I meant-..stop. You know what I meant" I mumble, glaring at him.
Leo grins a bit. "I enjoy silence sometimes. And I enjoy you. Why not have them both?" Leo asks, and I stare at him, fighting back a smile.
"You're smiling darling," He tells me, and I roll my eyes playfully, grabbing his glass and refilling it.
DISTANCE.
I scowl at myself.
"Zack" I groan, turning to look at Henry. "What?".
"I um..so basically-"
"Just spit it out," I tell him. "I knocked over a glass of vodka and it splashed on this guy's shoes. He's angry" Henry mumbles. "Tell him to grow the fuck up," I say.
"Do I have to?-"
"Where is he?" I sigh, and Henry point to the other side of the bar. I see a man, glaring at us. I beckon him over, and he comes.
He stops in front of us, glaring at Henry. He opens his mouth to speak. I beat him to it. "He spilt some drink on your shoes. I apologise. He's an idiot, I know. But an apology is all you're getting" I tell him bluntly.
He scowls. "I deserve a free drink". I scoff. "You deserve a slap in the face for talking to me like that".
He glares at me, and I raise an eyebrow. "Who the fuck are you glaring at?" I ask, and he turns to Henry. "Hey, eyes on me. I'm talking to you, not him" I scowl, stepping in front of Henry.
"Now either fuck off back to your seat or leave. I genuinely couldn't care less" I tell him, and he scoffs. "I want to speak to the owner".
"You heard him. Fuck off" Leo says, not sparing him a glance as he takes a sip of his coke. "You're the owner?" The guy says, looking at Leo.
"Manager. And I'm telling you to listen to him, and fuck off" Leo says, and I grin. "I deserve a free drink, my shoes-"
"Your shoes got a little damp. Who gives two shits? If you're too broke to buy yourself a drink, just say that" Leo scoffs.
The guy glares at Leo, before glaring at us. "I hope you know I will never be returning here," He tells us. "Hallelujah" I smile, and he rolls his eyes.
"I'll be leaving a bad review about this place" He mumbles. "A bad Facebook review. Oh, how will we stay open now?" Leo says sarcastically, and the guy storms off.
"Thanks" Henry mumbles when he's gone. "Fuck off," I tell him, and he smiles. "Yes boss" He walks away happily.
I sigh. "Weird ass kid" I mumble.
"How old is he?" Leo asks. "Nineteen," I say, just as Leo's phone buzzes. He grabs it, reading a text before standing up. "See you later, okay?".
"Please, don't come back later" I groan, and he grins. "Now I definitely will," He says, and I glare at him while he walks away.
I sigh, running a hand through my hair. Well, that did not go well at all. I need to get one of those watches that tases me when I talk to him.
I glance down the other end of the bar, seeing Henry working quickly to make the drinks.
The kid is annoying as hell, he's late ninety percent of the time. He can be very clumsy. His style is questionable. Don't get me started on the elephant phone case he has. His eating habits are weird. And sometimes I just want to punch him...like really punch him.
But other than that, he's a very good bartender.
I suddenly hear whistling, and I look at the opposite side of the bar. I see a table of two guys whistling as a woman who just walked in. I scowl.
"Keep whistling and I'll bash your faces in with the baseball bat I have out back" I yell at them, and they look at me. Their faces go slightly red as they look around at everyone staring at them.
I glance back at the woman, and she shoots me a small nod. I nod back, watching her curiously. She's dressed very professionally for a place like this. Black pencil skirt, cream trench coat. A fucking Gucci handbag.
I look around at all the ugly fuckers in this bar. Yeah, no way in hell she's here for one of them.
I watch as she goes over to the door in the corner, pressing in a code and walking through the door.
I watch the door close, before glancing up at the glass in Leo's office.
Unless Leo has some older sister, then the likelihood is that they're hooking up and I was right. And thanks to Noah and Cameron, I know Charlotte is his only sister.
Fuck.
I glare at the countertop, angry at myself.
I told myself to distance myself. Of course this would happen.
"Boss will-"
"I'm going on my break" I mumble, walking past him and out towards the back.
