IT'S BEEN WEIRD EVER SINCE THE KISS. Jim has been ignoring Evelyn, hiding from her and rushing out of rooms. It's been painfully boring without his usual shenanigans and him in general, but she wasn't going to overstep. She had basically rejected him. It made sense for him to want space.

The worst part, however, is Pam's tallies on how many times Katy calls the office. Apparently they are dating now, just like she had suspected. She couldn't deny the fact that his association with her wasn't bothering her because it was. Terribly. But she can't just tell him that. Not after what happened.

She was dozing off when her phone buzzed on her desk. Swiftly, she snatched the device and glanced at it, spotting Pam's name. With a pout, she decided to toss the device into her purse instead of subject herself to what she knew already. Katy called again.

Maybe she should call Calum. Their date had gone extremely well. He was the utmost gentleman and she had learned more about his family. He had even admitted that Walter is adorable. It was progress that Evelyn felt proud about. So much so that she found herself reaching back into her purse for her phone.

Before she could navigate to her contacts, her phone began to buzz. Her mother's name popped onto the small screen, alongside an old picture of the two. With a huff, she pressed a button and placed the phone to her ear. "Morning," she greeted her mother as she pushed away from her desk.

"Good morning," her mother responded in a chipper voice. Evelyn couldn't help but smile as she took her wallet from her purse. "You sound happy this morning," she exhaled, unzipping the coin purse to take out a few quarters. Her mother hummed, a nice noise that Evelyn wasn't used to hearing so much.

Curious, Evelyn straightened, her free hand moving to rest at her hip. "Did Chichi buy you something nice?" There was a pause before her mother scoffed. "No! Can a mother not be happy her daughter answered her phone?" Evelyn huffed, her eyes rolling skyward. She then continued her journey to the break room for a soda.

"How was your date? Was he nice?" she asked, and suddenly Evelyn paused. Her lips parted in surprise as her voice got low. "Who told you about that?" she asked. "Are you bribing Payton for information again?" She lightly shook the hand holding her change by her side as she walked through the bullpen. In a flash, she had slipped into the break room seemingly unnoticed. "What else am I supposed to do? You don't ever tell me anything."
