I ran through the woods. But it wasn't my own legs which carried me. I zigzagged between stones and trees; wildly jumping and bouncing. I was happy because I had found my way home.
I turned my gaze to the right. A pair of honey eyes surrounded by dark fur met my gaze. They shone with the same happiness as the one I felt in my heart. I loved him, I loved him so much and he... he loved me. With him I could put all my worries, all my doubts and know that he gave me security and safety back.
A tear fell along my inhuman cheek. But not a tear of sorrow. It was a tear of love which proved how much I loved this wonderful creature. The creature who had chosen me.
"I follow you," I smiled broadly as I sighed contentedly. "I always will."
"What?"
I pressed myself against the warm and solid mass which held me against it. I wasn't yet fully awake and not quite ready to leave my dream. It was too nice and filled me with so much joy and warmth that I didn't notice how I cried, but of happiness.
It was only when the solid mass moved, and a gentle hand caressed my tear-filled cheek that I reluctantly left the land of dreams and opened my drowsy eyes.
"Are you sad?" Confused and a little lost I looked around and realized how the solid mass which held me was Reed. I jerked but he just hugged me harder.
"What?"
"You're crying." I brought a hand to my cheek and saw the tears on my fingertips.
"Oh. No, I... I," I closed my eyes. "I had a fantastic dream."
"What did you dream about?"
"I..." Yes, what did I dream? I didn't really remember but for some reason I blushed. "I don't know, I just remember it was good."
I was still halfway up Reed, but he had moved the blanket so that it covered me completely, and he had moved more into the middle of the bed. He held a tender hand against the back of my head. "What time is it?"
"7:30am."
"What? Fuck! I who wanted to sleep until at least 9am."
"I'm glad you slept well anyway." I opened a tired eye and looked up at him, but he didn't meet my gaze.
"Did you... Did you sleep badly? Sorry if I'm the cause of it." I made an attempt to roll off him, but he almost pulled me up completely on top of him while shaking his head.
"No, I slept better than I have in a long time." I turned my face to the wall to hide how I smiled. I must admit the same.
"I didn't get too clingy and heavy for you then? Sorry if I clung to you all night but I cannot resist when someone like a cuddling teddy bear shares bed with me!"
He laughed; a laugh so warm that my eyes watered again, but why? A flashback from the dream, a forest and a dark figure who ran alongside me... I rubbed my face against him.
"Reed?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you for having the courage to come to me."
"I always want to come to you."
"Oh," I turned in his arms and straightened up, looking down at him.
Our eyes met and I stared down into what felt like two wells of gold. I let a hand caress his stubbled cheek gently, tenderly... He held his breath and I found myself doing the same. He's so beautiful and amazing. It felt natural for my fingers to touch him.
I shivered, but I don't really know why. The anticipation hanging in the room... Did I dare to... Could I be strong and make the first step like Mike suggested?
