The first snow had arrived. It lay like a blanket over the estate and the large forest. The fountain in front of the entrance had a thick layer and the water flowed more slowly, as if it subsided to froze into ice.

The wind was chilly, but the sun shone and made the snow sparkle like diamonds. It was wonderful, like being in a fairy-tale. A perfect winter day. A day of fun and peace.

"Incoming!"

I giggled delightfully when the snowball flew in an arc thru the air before hitting the black wolf right in the face. He stumbled back before he shook his big fluffy head, glaring up at me where I was standing on a footbridge over a small pond in the park in front of the estate, close to a larger tree. I doubled over with laughter.

"Don't you have superior senses?!" I snickered, watching the wolf as he with a sly look rounded the pond, trotting up towards me. He stopped below the bridge while I scraped up more snow from the railing. "My big bad alpha wolf, too easy to,"

Suddenly snow rained down over me from above. I whined when snow found its way inside my collar. I tried to back away but slipped and fell backwards with a surprised shriek.

An amused grunting was heard from the wolf who stood pressed against the tree trunk, waving is tail. I glanced up at the branch above me.

"You didn't!" I burst, wiping snow from my face and chest. "Evil, Reed! Evil!"

I couldn't help but smile amused when he climbed up over me, his paws on each side of my head. He tilted his head to the side, puffing at me before licking my face clean of snow. I giggled, his tongue tickling me.

When he leaned down and pressed me against the hard and cold ground, his warm fur covered me, and I placed my hands against his furry chest.

"I was on my way out to tell you how Adam is almost done with the preparations!" He nuzzled my face with his muzzle, and I kissed his nose. "I'm glad that your best friend is culinary both when it comes to food and baking. Mom and the rest will love it."

I glanced away towards the house. Alex and Vivian had hung beautiful outdoor lighting at the facade the day before. Fine strings of light around the entrance, around railings and balconies.

Louis and Jimmy had hung lights in some bushes and trees. It was surely magical. My family would love it, coming here now in the winter and experiencing the magic of Hookhill, in a way.

"How can I be nervous? I mean, it's only our families that are going to meet for the first time, celebrating Thanksgiving together." Reed pressed his forehead against mine and growled low. "I know, I have the right to be nervous, or I'm more excited! And the first real snow day is like frosting on the cake!"

I tried to turn and crawl out from under him, but he pinched me to the ground.

"Reed!" I laughed. "Reed let go! I get snowy and cold!" I tried to shove my elbow in his chest, but he just held me there, licking my cheek. "Bad dog, baaad doggie!"

I couldn't help but laugh delightfully when he grabbed my jacket and pulled me backwards down the bridge. It made my body plow up snow right where my face was, and I got snow in both my mouth and nose.

I tried to kick him, but he easily feinted my squirming legs. I reached for a stick but he didn't bother when I hit back at him.

"REED, my love and darling angel!" I begged whiningly. "Help, help somebody! This mean alpha is going to take me!"

When I saw two young wolves sitting some feet away, watching us, I tried to get them to help me.

"Hannah! Jack!" I could see how they were amused. "Please, help your alphamega, he's in aid!" My words were muffled by the snow and finally I gave up trying and just let Reed pull me through the snow.
