Chapter 19 - The Calm before the Storm

The next few weeks just seemed to blend into one, you were studying as the end of year exams were coming up so you didn't do a lot and you tried not to stress out too much but your mind had been all over the place since you started to think about everything, you spent every weekend with Larissa and you were now officially together as she asked you to be her girlfriend but obviously you couldn't tell anyone and the only person who knew was thornhill and she was happy to keep that secret. It was now Friday and you were on your way to weems' office but you bumped into Enid and Wednesday, since they went to the dance together they hadn't left each other's side and on a rare occasion they would be holding hands but only on an odd occasion as Wednesday didn't like to show affection in public it was a completely different situation when they were in private as they would sit in each others arms in there room, you only knew this because Enid would tell you on your walks "hi guys, how are you?"
"We're good y/n how's studying going?" Wednesday asked your relationship was a lot better because you helped both of them get together
"It's very stressful but I'm dealing with it how's it going for you?"
"I'm not studying, I don't need to" you were confused but Wednesday always confused you "Oh ok, how about you Enid?"
"It's going well, I think I'm fully prepared for our first exam" you weren't, you always struggled when it came to revising, everything just doesn't seem to stay in your head "that's good!"
"Where are you off to y/n?" You lied
"I'm just on my way back to my room to study more"
"Oh ok we'll I'll see you later then, I don't want to mess up your schedule"
Enid said hugging you goodbye
"Yeah I'll see you later, bye Wednesday" you just lightly punched Wednesday on the arm because she wouldn't hug you "bye y/n" they then both walked away hand in hand and you made your way to weems' office.

"Hey Rissa, you in here?" You asked walking in, she was packing a bag
"Oh hi y/n im just packing a few things, come in and make yourself comfortable" you went in but didn't sit down "what are you packing for?" You asked a bit worried "I need to go on a work trip for a few days next week" you were a bit sad because she hadn't told you about this and you hadn't spent your time without seeing her daily since being at nevermore "Oh, how long will you be gone for?"
"Just 3 days, but marylin will still be here so you don't need to worry" she said whilst walking over to you but you kept your head down as you were just trying to figure out how you were feeling "im sorry darling but I need to go on this trip if I could send someone else I could" she said lifting your head up so you were looking at her "I understand, can we at least do something this weekend before you go?" You said hugging her "of course darling how about a date tomorrow and then a movie marathon on Sunday, we can watch all the marvel movies" she knew that you loved marvel, you smiled "that sounds great Rissa, but we can't watch all the movies maybe just some of the best ones"
"Whatever you want dear, now go get changed into your pyjamas whilst I finish packing" you now had your own draw in her room as you were there every weekend but you slept in some of her pyjamas because they were comfy and made you feel closer to her. After weems finished packing she joined you in bed and you just sat watching the news - you did that every Friday night so you could catch up on what had happened during the week, once the news was over weems turned the to off and you went to sleep.

When you woke up it was already 12 and weems wasn't in bed she was in her office getting some last minute work done "Rissa, come back to bed" you shouted from bed not wanting to get up "I will soon darling I just need to do one more thing" you groaned loudly so she would be able to here you "just be patient dear, the more you moan the longer it will take" you decided to listen to her and you just sat on you phone waiting for her. She came back into the room but she wasn't in her pyjamas she was in a beautiful red casual dress "why are you dressed it's only 12:30?" You were confused "we're going on a date remember?" You didn't remember but you lied "of course I remember" she didn't believe you and just laughed
"We'll dear you better get up and get changed because the table is booked for 1:30, I didn't want it to be too late because I thought we could start some of the movies tonight so we can watch more" you couldn't argue with that
"I'll get ready soon I just want to stay in bed a little longer"
"Ok we'll we have to leave in 30 minutes so don't leave it to late" she said as she went to walk out the room
"Wait Rissa, do I need to dress up like last time or can I be a bit more casual?"
"You can wear more casual clothes, it's not anywhere fancy" you smiled and nodded, you didn't mind dressing up every now and then but you couldn't be bothered to wear something fancy today. After sitting in bed for 10 minutes you got up and got changed into some jeans and a shirt but put a jumper over it as it was getting colder "are you ready to go dear?" Weems said coming back into the room "Yep do we need to go now?" You asked hoping you could chill for a little while longer "we'll i need to go to talk to marylin quickly and then we can go, do you want to stay here or come with me?" You thought for a minute "I'll stay here but I'll come meet you down there in 10, im guessing you'll be in the library?"
"That sounds like a good plan and yeah marylin likes to spend all her time in there" she then left and you just sat on the bed for a few minutes before putting your shoes on and grabbing your wallet. When you reached the library you went in quietly as there were people in there studying and you didn't want to distract anyone, weems didn't see you and you heard the end of there conversation
"Look after her for me marylin I'm worried about her, I don't want to leave but I have to"
"Don't worry Larissa I'll keep an eye on her" you felt a bit sad that you were worrying Larissa but didn't want to say anything you walked over and cleared your throat so they knew you were there
"You ready or do you need a few more minutes?"
"No I'm all fine to go, thanks again marylin I'll see you next week"
"It's all good, I'll see you when you're back Larissa. Have fun!" Thornhill said and you both left. You had a nice date in a little Italian restaurant in Jericho, you were determined that you would pay the bill this time as weems paid for the last one "im just going to go to the toilet quickly" you stood up but instead of going to the toilet you went up to one of the waiters "hi can I pay the bill for that table over there please" you pointed at your table "of course would you like to pay it now or for me to bring the bill over"
"Can I pay it now please"
"Of course just come with me" you walked over to the till and paid for the meal before making your way back to the table "ok Rissa are you ready to go?" You said pulling her chair out
"Yeah I just need to pay then we can get going" she said as you helped her out her coat on "it's fine I've already paid so we can go now" she looked at you angrily "you did what?"
"I paid the bill, so let's go to the car" she walked out and sat in the car "darling why did you pay the bill? I was going to pay"
"You paid the last time and I knew that you would want to pay again that's why I did it before you could"
"Well thank you, but next time I'm paying ok?" She turned the car on
"I'm not making any promises" you said under your breath so she couldn't hear you but had a smile on your face.

When you got back to school you both got changed into comfy clothes and spent the rest of the weekend in bed watching marvel movies, only getting out of the bed to get food or use the toilet, you could tell weems didn't really get all of the movies but she saw you were enjoying it so tried to understand it. Before you knew it it was Monday morning and weems was getting all her bags and taking them into her car before coming to wake you up
"Darling it's time to get up, you have class soon and I need to go" you woke up and said goodbye to her
"I'll be back soon dear, make sure you behave whilst I'm gone. No funny business are we clear?" You rolled your eyes "ok I'll try not to, be safe please"
"I will be y/n I promise, I love you and I'll see you in a few days"
"I love you too, I'll see you soon" weems then kissed you goodby and left.
