Chapter 51 - let's get started (TW - panic attack)

You woke up the next morning to larissas alarm going off at 5:30 am and rolled over turning it off and looking at weems with a smile "good morning beautiful" you said kissing her cheek before getting out of the bed "good morning darling, I'm going to stay in bed a tiny bit longer" weems said pulling the covers back over her and you laughed a little "ok, but I'm getting in the shower and by the time I'm out you need to be up" you walked into the bathroom and got into the shower humming along to a song stuck in your head (arctic monkeys - do i wanna know) and after a 20 minute shower of you pretty much just singing you got out and wrapped a towel around you, you walked back into the bedroom to see weems laying in bed but she was awake "Rissa its time for you to get ready" you said turning around drying yourself off and you smirked as you felt her eyes on you the whole time so you decided to make it a little show so you slowly started to dry yourself making sure that weems could see every movement and once you had dried yourself you turned around like nothing had happened and put your clothes on and weems just watched you with her mouth open in shock "if you're done staring its time for you to get ready rissa" you said slipping on a white shirt on and weems finally stood up and came behind you and kissed your neck as she slipped away to get changed, you finished getting ready putting on your suit jacket and a pair of jeans on before doing your hair and slipping your shoes on. You went to Larissa who had just finished getting changed "are we going to breakfast rissa or are we skipping it?" You asked hugging her from behind "do you want to go to breakfast?" She asked looking at you and you nodded "yes please" you added and weems smiled at you "then we can definitely go" she said turning around and kissing you "thank you rissa" you said holding her hand and making your way to the door, the only reason you wanted to go to breakfast was to make sure Parker ate and that she was ok and you think weems might've  known that but she was just happy to see you so eager to go eat so didn't say anything and just let you drag her to the canteen. Once you got down there you made your way to the table and weems went to get you both some food and you sat there ignoring all the teachers looking for Parker and as soon as you saw her you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding in and smiled just as weems joined you at the table and set some food in front of you but you were to focused on Parker who was sitting with her roommate Sophie and they both seemed happy and Parker was eating so you finally stopped searching and started eating your own food as weems talked to a few of the teachers and once you were both done eating you looked at weems and asked for permission to leave and go up to your room and she smiled "darling you don't need to ask me just say where you're going" she said and you nodded "I'm going to go up to my room and get ready for my first proper lesson" you replied and weems nodded and kissed your cheek "good luck today darling and I will come see you at break" you nodded before standing up and leaving the hall. When you got to your room you put on arctic monkeys and started to put a book on every desk along with a pen so if a student didn't have one they didn't have to worry, you also took all the papers with your first classes names out and layer them out on your desk so they could all take them and put them in front of them you then sat down and carried on listening to your music whilst waiting also opening the slide show for your lesson and then you just sat there waiting for a few minutes.

The bell rang and the first years started to come in so you stood up pausing the music "hey everyone its good to see you again, please find your name card on my desk then take a seat wherever you like" you said whilst everyone walked in and they all nodded taking their names and sitting down with Parker and Sophie sitting right at the front, once everyone was sat down you smiled and sat down with them "ok so unlike yesterday we are going to do a little bit of work today but we will not be doing a lot because i just want to know how well you can all do" you explained flipping to the first slide of the presentation "first of all i'd like you to write your names on the front of your book and then open them to the second page" all of them nodded and wrote their names and opened their books "this is a very easy lesson it is just going to be reading a piece of text and then I'm going to help you annotate it" you flipped to the slide with the text on it then got up and started to hand them out along with a highlighter the text was the poem hope is the things with feathers by Emily Dickinson:

You made your way to the front of the class and looked at everyone "who here can catch well?" You asked and most hands went up so you got a box of glue sticks out "lets put it to the test" you started to throw glue sticks to everyone with heir hands up and everyone caught them so you smile and nodded "guess you can catch, please glue them in and we can start annotating" You spent most the lesson annotating it and some of the kids shared some good ideas on why they thought certain words and phrases were in it and by the middle of the lesson the whole poem was annotated and you were happy with the results so you walked around making sure everyone had done what was aid and when you saw they all did you smiled and nodded "you can all have a 10 minute break, I don't mind what you do and if you need anything you can come over and talk to me" you then sat down and unpaused your music keeping it quiet and just getting some prep for your next lesson as they were all doubles you looked up when you saw parker walking towards you so you smiled at her "hey Parker need something?" You asked looking at her and she smiled "i just wanted to say thank you for yesterday and sorry for falling asleep" she said handing you her book "hey no need to say sorry i was fine taking you back up to your room" you said looking through her work and seeing she had done more then you "Parker did you do all of this yourself?" You asked amazed at how much was annotated and she nodded with a smile "i really like English my mum used to help me with it" she explained and you nodded "well she did an amazing job and so did you, if you like i can give you another poem to annotate by yourself" you suggested and she nodded eagerly "ok sad or happy poem?" You asked flicking through your book "well as that was a kind of happy one lets go with sad but is there a chance it can be the same poet, i love Emily Dickinson" she responded and you nodded handing her the poem "she's my favourite as well" you said with a smile

Parker smiled and walked off sitting at her desk and immediately started to annotate you watched for a minute before going back to prepping some work and after 10 minutes you decided that it was time to get back to work so you stood up and cleared your throat pausing the music "ok everyone can you find your seats please" everyone made their way back to their seats and you paused the music and looked over at Parker who had just finished annotating and you nodded at her before looking back at the whole class "ok I'm going to put a question from a test on the board and i want you to write it down in your book and then we can answer it together" you said flipping to the slide with the question that is linked to the first poem on the board and as everyone wrote it down you started to write a question for Parker to do with the poem she just annotated and took it over to her "that's for if you finish the question before us" you said putting it on the desk and she just nodded "ok so this is a question linked to the poem we annotated and i can help you out with the first few sentences but it is for you to answer by yourself" you explained and put a few sentence starters on the board and explained how it works then you sat down and unpaused the music keeping it quiet so people could concentrate and you let them all do the work by themself whilst you prepared for your next lesson. When you had 5 minutes left of the lesson you stood up and decided to walk around to look at all the work that had been done just looking over shoulders and most people had done 2 paragraphs apart from a few people who had only done one but you just kept on walking round til you reached parker who was sat on her phone "parker can we put the phone away please you have 5 more minutes then you can go on it" you explained quietly to her and she nodded "sorry y/n i finished so didn't know what else to do" and you looked at her then at her book and saw 3 paragraphs for each poem and both of them beautifully annotated and you looked shocked "can you stay after class for me?" You asked and she nodded and you took her book to your desk before standing at the front and looking at everyone "ok you can start to pack up now and please leave your books open on the page you've done your work and pile them on my desk on your way out" everyone started to pack up and they all stood behind their desks once they were done and you nodded slightly "have a good rest of your day and ill see you all in a few days" you said and they all dropped of their books on your desk before going to break and you were left in an empty room apart from Parker who was waiting patiently for you "Parker thanks for staying, i skimmed over your work and its great. I was just wondering if you think it would be useful for me to give you extra work every lesson so you don't have to sit on your phone or wait for everyone so you can work again" you explained with a smile and Parker smiled "that would be great y/n i sometimes struggle with paying attention if I haven't got anything to do" and you nodded "that settles it i will make sure i have extra work for you and i bet your mum loves how much you like English" Parker didn't say anything and just smiled slightly before standing up "thank you miss, ill see you next lesson" you nodded as she left and sat back at your desk and instead of going to break you decided to just mark most of the work that had just been done and you took down names of people who did more then what you expected and some names that looked like they might need a bit more help during the lesson and before you knew it your second years were coming in.
