Chapter 24

My dad dropped Eriss and I off at the train station because we both decided that it's been way too long since we have hung out just the two of us.

"I'm so glad we're doing this" Eriss smiles as we step on the train that will eventually lead us downtown.

"Oh my god so am I" I take a deep breath as we sit down.

"I swear the triplets and Ash are slowly shortening my life span" She laughs at her own comment as we feel the momentum shift in the train.

"How are things with Ash?" I ask her.

"Things are great, I feel like he just gets me like we're two pieces of a puzzle who were always meant to be together and never realized until recently" I watch as her face softens at the simple thought of her and Ash together.

"You guys are so cute" I smile.

Ash and Eriss always had secret crushes for each other ever since 5th grade. Even if they didn't know it themselves it was always obvious to the triplets and I. When they finally got together freshman year we literally threw a celebration party.

Best day of my life and it wasn't even my relationship.

We spend about 15 more minutes talking about Ash and Eriss' relationship until the train comes to a stop which signals its time to get off.

We link arms and practically skip out the train station to begin our day.

We make sure to stop at the coffee shop we went to on our last day of Summer when we were last downtown. Eriss hasn't shut up about how good their coffee is since then.

We order our drinks and patiently wait on them. Once they're ready we walk over to that same lake we stopped by last time.

We're practically living the same day just without all the testosterone.

"So what's new with you?" Eriss asks me as we sit down on a cute little bench.

I have to stop and think for a moment about what's really new with me.

Then it hits me.

I haven't told Eriss about Matt and I's little exchange from the other day.

I practically freeze at the realization.

"Scar? You okay you just like glitched" Eriss waves her hand in front of my eyes.

"What? Yeah I'm good" I smile and shake it off.

"Don't lie there's something you're not telling me" She laughs at my attempt to avoid the question.

I blink a few times trying to think of what the fuck to say next.

I promised myself to only tell one person because I just can't let stuff like that lingerie in my own head for too long without going mentally insane.

"I won't tell Nick if that's what you're worried about" She shrugs her shoulders.

"Ugh okay fine, Matt and I kissed"

Dead silence.

For a long time.

I think she stopped breathing.

"Are you being for real?" She says with her mouth slightly open.

"Mhm" I nod, confirming her disbelief.

"What the fuck?! You and Matt?! Kissed?!" She widens her eyes.

I nod one more time.

"SCARLETT? WTF WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME" She yells at me.
