Amy's outfit choice for me was nothing I would've picked. I was in a red and black flannel, ripped light wash jeans, a white tank top, a forest green beanie, and black boots. My outfit definitely clashed with the light blue backpack I was using but it would have to do since I was out of options.

"You look awesome." Amy smiled. "You actually look great like this."

"Why do I feel like I'm in an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody?" I deadpanned.

"Well, we better get moving, Cody." she said enthusiastically, pulling me away from the mirror in the bathroom and out to her car.

-

I didn't act as bitter as I actually felt about the situation. Amy was always about being herself so why would she force me to be someone else? I was lucky my parents were gone for work before we left the house because of our mom saw me, she would've had a cow.

Walking into the school, obviously, people stared. Some tried to seem subtler than others but I tried to ignore it. Amy would just shoot them a look anyway and they'd turn the other way. It was kind of cool, actually.

I'd have to take the same required classes Amy took but I was supposed to be going to the guidance office after second period to pick out my electives. At least I'd know where most of my classes were since Amy would be with me. Well, if she went to her classes. I knew she was smart and got excellent grades, but I also knew that she could easily figure out sneaky ways to get out of going to class without ruining her record.

"Don't worry," Amy said to me. "The place my friends and I hang out is pretty secluded. Otherwise, we'd get in a ton of trouble. Plus, the whispering and shit gets kind of annoying, you know?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I've witnessed firsthand."

She looked around us and laughed quietly. "Yeah, high school is pretty judgmental. It doesn't matter if you get straight A's, if you look like a burnout, they assume you are one and won't talk to you. That's partly why I started dressing like this."

"What's the other reasons?" I asked.

"I wanted to and dad let me."

We turned down a hallway that was empty. I could still feel eyes staring at my back but I was at least relieved I didn't have to endure making awkward eye contact with anyone else anymore. She led me off another hall that had four people standing around, laughing and talking. By the way they were dressed and the fact they were alone, I assumed they were Amy's friends.

"There she is." a boy with hair that looked a lot like cooked ramen noodles smiled, opening his arms for her.

Probably her boyfriend.

"Well, well, well." a boy with dark hair held back in a grey beanie smirked. "This must be the infamous Alice we've heard about."

Amy brought me over to her friends, also walking straight into ramen guy's arms and pecking his lips. "Yeah, this is her. Al, this is Michael, Calum, Luke, and Violet. And this is Ashton."

The first thing I noticed was that everyone but Ashton had some sort of piercing. Luke had a lip ring; Michael had his eyebrow pierced; Violet had little loop in her left nostril, a bar through her eyebrow, and one ear had piercings all the way up; Calum had his septum pierced, as well as snake bites and black gauges.

All of them also had tattoos except Luke. I found tattoos kind of fascinating and hoped to look at them closer at some point.

I tried not to judge them. I knew Amy didn't act how she dressed so who was to say her friends would? They were probably cool people - despite the way Calum was staring at me.

"So Alice," Violet smiled warmly. "Amy said you're a lot like her. Maybe you'd want to go to a party with us tomorrow?"

"On a Thursday?" I asked quietly.

She laughed a little. "Yeah, it's weird, I know."

"Yeah, we'll be there." Amy promised, looking at me like it was no big deal. "Alice loves to party. She takes alcohol like nobodies business."

"I'd love to see that." Calum said, playing with one of his lip rings with the smirk still on his face.

"It'll be at mine and Ash's place." Michael spoke up. "Again."

"Seriously, where are your parents ever?" Amy laughed.

He shrugged. "Usually off golfing or something. I don't know why, my dad sucks at it."

The bell rang and Amy and Ashton kissed again. Calum made a gagging noise and grabbed his backpack from off the ground as Amy pulled away and flipped him off.

"I'll see you at lunch." Ashton promised. "I love you."

"I love you too." she grinned before Ashton walked off without a bag and went out the door that led to the parking lot in the back.

I walked closer to my sister. "Does he even go here? And how long have you even been dating?"

She chuckled. "Chill. No, he doesn't, and it's been six months."

"And I'm just now meeting him and hearing about him?"

She nodded. "If I bring him around the house, you know mom and dad will assume he's trouble just like the rest of my friends."

"So what are they like?" I wondered.

"Amy, you comin'?" Calum called from down the hall. "You can't be late again this week."

"I'll explain later." she said before grabbing my arm and pulling me along to English.
