I went downstairs with Calum on my heels. I could see halfway down the stairs into the living room where Luke was standing with Amy and our parents. I was definitely happy that Amy was there with him so it would be less awkward for him.

"Hey." he grinned when he noticed me. "Whoa, Cal, are you trying to steal my date?"

I snorted a little and looked up at Calum who rolled his eyes. "No, she's dead set on you. God knows why. Have fun you crazy kids. And be nice, Lucas."

Calum flashed a smile at me before leaving the house. I walked over to Luke and he kissed my cheek, making me blush. Amy wiggled her eyebrows at me when my parents weren't paying attention to her.

"So you're going to the beach?" my mom smiled. "Make sure to wear sunscreen, Alice, you know how badly you burn when you don't."

"Don't worry, Mrs Ackerman, I brought sunscreen." Luke assured her.

"Ma, just let them get going." Amy sighed, already pushing us toward the door. "Don't be handsy and make sure to have her home before eleven. Be careful driving and make good decisions, blah, blah, blah. Bye!"

She slammed the door in our faces but I knew she wasn't trying to be rude. She was just trying to get us out of the house before our parents could interrogate him or something. I was glad my dad didn't have the chance to say anything, at least while I was downstairs. He was actually very protective over me because of what I was.

"Well, good to know your sister's the same at home as she is in school." Luke joked, leading me to his car and opening the door for me.

"Sassy and annoying? Yeah." I nodded, getting in.

He closed the door and quickly went around to his side, getting in and buckling up before starting the car. "You find her annoying? You two seem so close."

"We are but we can still get on each others nerves." I told him. "We're siblings and that's how siblings are. Don't you have any?"

He nodded. "Two older brothers. I think my parents favor them over me but that's probably because neither of them have been arrested before."

I laughed quietly. "You've been arrested?"

He glanced over at me. "Why are you laughing?"

"Sorry, sorry, I'm not laughing." I tried to tell him but it only made me laugh more.

"You think it's funny that I've been arrested?" he asked, starting to laugh too.

I shook my head. "No, no, that's not it. I just find it weird that you've been arrested."

"It's weird that the person with the most anger issues in school has been arrested?"

"Well I've never seen you get angry."

We stopped at a red light and he looked at me. "Trust me, you don't want to see it. It's terrifying and the last thing I want to do is scare you."

"You think an angry string bean would scare me?" I giggled.

He smirked. "A string bean?"

I nodded. "You're tall and lanky, much like a string bean."

"Alright but does a string bean have broad shoulders and arms like this?" he asked, flexing the arm closest to me.

I blushed as I looked at the muscles of his biceps which were exposed by his tank top. "No, string beans don't have shoulders or arms at all."

He laughed as the light turned green and he started driving again. "Alright, good point."
