I laid beside Amy in her room with a pack of frozen peas on my face as I continued to cry. I'd managed to sneak back into the house with the help of Calum and she had to call Violet to get most of the details of what happened. Calum was only able to explain that it was Luke who hit me and I couldn't tell if Amy was more furious about what Ross had tried to do or what Luke had accomplished to do.

Calum sat on Amy's other side and looked over at me worriedly. "Is the swelling going down?"

Amy had her arms around me and rubbed my arm as she continued to glare at the wall across the room. "He better hope so."

"Amy," Calum sighed, "he didn't mean to."

"But he did and that means it could happen again." she snapped. "I don't trust him with her anymore and I doubt she trusts him with her either."

"Give the poor guy a second chance. You should've seen how hurt he looked when he realized what he did."

"Luke already had his second chance when he called my sister a guy. He's out of chances."

Calum just nodded slowly and dropped the conversation after that. He knew there was no convincing Amy because she was just too stubborn to ever be pulled from what she already had her mind set on.

"I should probably get going before anyone realizes I'm here." Calum decided, standing up from her bed and walking to the door. "I'll swing by tomorrow to check on Al. Goodnight, guys."

Amy mumbled a goodbye and I continued to make no noise as I let a few tears slip out every couple seconds. I was starting to run out of tears, which I was grateful for since my eyes were starting to sting from the makeup getting in them. Not only that but I was getting tired and just wanted the night to be over already.

"If your phone goes off and Luke's name pops up one more time, I'll snap it in half." Amy stated, sounding very monotone.

My phone was on silent but it still went off with calls and texts from Luke. I noticed that I had also gotten texts from Violet and Michael scattered in there, asking if I was okay and saying to call if I needed anything. Ashton had also called Amy at one point when I first got home but they only talked briefly because Amy was angry and didn't want to snap at him.

"W-why'd he h-hit me?" I sniffled, wiping my eyes and cheeks.

"Because he has anger issues and can't control himself." she said softly. "I warned you before."

I took a deep breath, hoping it would help me talk without my voice shaking and hiccuping. "I n-never thought he'd actually hit me."

"I know but he doesn't know what he's doing when he gets angry. He's hit his friends before, like Calum and Ashton, and he's even knocked me on my ass before." she shrugged. "It's nothing new to us but I never thought he'd hit you. I never wanted to let him hit you."

I slowly sat up. "You didn't let him, you weren't even there. You can't save me from everything anyway, Amy."

"But you're my sister and I've already seen you hit rock bottom." she said. "I don't want to see it happen again, especially over a boy."

"I won't." I promised. "This is a different kind of sad. This is heartbreak, not me hating who I am."

"Are you still upset about...what happened with...Ross?" she asked slowly.

I took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah, about that...tomorrow, I want to talk to mom and dad about getting me a private tutor."

"For what?"

"For school."

Amy looked at me with widened eyes. "School?"

I nodded. "I liked everything better when I was home schooled. There were no creepy guys coming after me and no heartbreak and no close-minded people who gave me dirty looks everyday because I'm intersex."

"You're going back to home schooling?"

"Yeah, I want to."
