Chapter 2: Neteyam p.o.v

"Today you will train to ride a Skimwing." The Olo'eyktan says as Aonung, Roxto and I together with a few other young clan members stand infront of him "This is the final step of Iknimaya, the coming of age ritual. You must bond and ride with a Skimwing. Once you manage to do that you will be seen as an adult in our society. So this is very important for all of you."
"Have you ever ridden an Skimwing before?" I whisper to Aonung who shoke his head.
"So who wants to try first." Tonowari smiles.
I already had finished my coming of age ceremony back at the omaticayan clan by obtaining my Ikran but I needed to learn how to ride a Skimwing so I joined in on the lessons and maybe I will be able to bond to a Tulkan later aswell and become a true Metkayina clan member. "I will try." I spoke up.
Tonowari nodded and stood aside as he explained to me what I needed to do. I took a deep breath before facing the Skimwing. He looked at me curious like he never saw someone like me before "Hey there boy." I smile placing my hand out infront of me as a sign I didn't mean any harm. I used my other arm to grab the sling I was carrying before wrapping it around his beak. I jumped on his back and grabbed his queuqu and mine trying to make the connection but the animal began thrashing around, trying to throw me of his back. I held on tightly and managed to form the bond. I looked up at the other with a smile even Tonowari was looking at me in shock "No one has managed to bond with a Skimwing that quickly, go on take it out for a ride."
I nodded and focussed on the Skimwing. I told it to dive and it did before I told it to jump out of the water and fly. I smiled to myself this felt a lot like flying my Ikran called Summus. Once I was done with my first ride I jumped down the animal and patted his head before feeding it fish.
"That was amazing." Roxto applauded me.
"I Never seen someone managing to ride a Skimwing so fast." Aonung says "Maybe you are indeed chosen by Eywa, just like your father and sister."
"Who know." I smile "Now one of you has to go next."
Tonowari walked over to me and congratulated me on my performance "You really are the son of Toruk Macto."
"That I am." I say proudly "Thank you for your praises."
"Well let's see if my son has the same skills as you, shall we." The chief says as he gestured for aonung that he was next.
"You got this." I tell him.
"Ofcourse I do." He winks "keep your eyes on me."
"I will." I reply as Aonung walked away.
"So you wanna place a bet?" Roxto asks.
I smile being intrigued "What kind of bet?"
"I say Aonung will fall of two times before mastering to ride an Skimwing and if I am right you will take over my cleaning duties the following week.' Roxto says.
"Deal" I reply "But if he manages to do it all at once then you will take over mine."
"it seems we have come to an agreement." Roxto smirks.
"Well let's watch what your friend will do." I nod as we watched Aonung climb on top of the animal and to both our surprises he only fell of once and that meant no one had won or lose the bet, but Aonung did mastered riding a Skimwing and as he smiled brightly at me, I couldn't help but let my heart skip a beat as he looked at me.
