Chapter 7: Neteyam p.o.v

A few days had passed as I recovered from my cold. Aonung had come by every day to check up on me together with his sisters and Roxto. Today I was finally released from bed rest and walked towards the docks were I called a Ilu to go for a ride. One of them came to me and I gladly intertwined our queues to accept the bond. We dove in the water and I felt myself smile as I took in the sea life around me. When I came up for air again I was met by the son of the Olo-eyktan staring at me concerned. "Neteyam what were you thinking going out on your own."
"Aonung." I smile "I am inside the reef and I have gotten better."
"Still I am worried about you." He comes to me checking me for any injuries.
"I am fine, Aonung." I tell him.
"Good." He says.
I smirk at him before jumping of my Ilu and towards Aonung, making both of us fall in the sea. We came up for air laughing. I hand my arms clutched around his shoulders as he had his hands placed on my hips. We used our feet to stay above water. Our chests were against each other and I could feel his breath on my cheek. I turned to look at him only to see he was starring at my lips. My smile faltered as my own eyes got drawn to his lips thoughts of kissing him appeared in my mind "Ao'nung." I say breathless squeezing his shoulders "What are you thinking about?"
"You." He replies out of breath as well "I have been thinking about you."
"Me?" I look up in his eyes.
"Yes you." He met my gaze "Have you been thinking about me too."
"What are you two doing?" the familiar voice of my youngest sister asks. Ao'nung and I jumped away from each other as I stared at Tuktirey who was on her own Ilu together with Ao'nung his sister Asina.
"nothing." I tell her as I felt my cheeks heat up.
"I had fallen off my Ilu." Ao'nung says "Your brother tried to catch me."
She looked between the two of us "Right, well I am going now, we were going to pluck underwater fruits with Kiri and Tsiyera." Then they rode away.

"Well they're gone." I chuckle.
"they are " Ao'nung rubbed the back of his head.
"Maybe we should see if the fishers need help with their nets." I try to change the subject, trying not to think about how close the two of us were. About me wanting to kiss his lips.
"Perhaps we should." Ao'nung agrees
"Ao'nung about what happend earlier."
"It's fine." He quickly interrupts me "don't think about it, let's forget whatever that was."
"Okay." I say swimming back to my own Ilu "so will I see you tonight? "
"Tonight?"
"We were hanging out with the gang remember." I tell him as it seems that he is lost in thoughts.
"Right." He mutters "Till then."
"Ao'nung?" I question looking at him worried, I went to reach for him but he swam away from me.
"I am fine." He says before he got on his Ilu and rode away.
I sigh as I watched him go. A part of me wanted to go after him but I also knew he needed some time. I bit my lip not knowing what was the wise choice. I shake my head and decided to give him time to settle whatever was bothering him. I turned my Ilu around and rode back to the village.
