Happily ever after.

Chapter 4: Neteyam p.o.v

"Neteyam." Aonung knocked on the side of my family's hut "We are going hunting beyond the reef today with the Skimwings and my uncle, would you like to join?"
"I would gladly join you." I stand up walking past my mother who was cooking with Tuk.
"Be careful boys and listen to Toniti." She smiles
"I will mom." I kiss the top of her head as we walked out of the hut.

"There you two are?" The brother of the Chief Toniti smiles "Go get ready, we ride."
We got on our Skimwings and rode beyond the reef, We were planning to hunt down a special kind of fish that you can only catch in the deep waters. But beyond the reef the Ocean held many dangers. Toniti warned us to be careful, as he leads the hunt. We were on a roll as we captured the fish we needed but the weather had started to change during our hunt. The wind had picked up and dark clouds formed over our heads as a sign it was going to rain.
"We have to move." Aonung says "A storm is coming."
"Everyone let's go back." Toniti, Aonung his uncle says as the waves became higher and bolder. We tried to get back to the shores, into the reef but the waves were strong and Aonung and I hadn't had a lot of experience with riding a Skimwing yet so we were not as fast as the others. The sky was now dark and rain was pouring down making our vision blurry. "Neteyam." Aonung yells for me over the noise of the storm " We have to pick up the pace." Then a wave went over Aonung taking him into the sea.
"Aonung." I yell as I saw no sign of him. I looked around to see the rest of the hunting party was much further and wouldn't hear me yelling for them. I looked at the dark water before I told the Skimwing to dive. The current was strong but I saw Aonung floating in the water, there was blood coming from his head. The wave must have knocked him against a rock what made him lose consciousness, there was no sign of his Skimwing. I dove towards him and grabbed his body, draping it over the sea animal as I told her to move. But the Sea was getting dangerous and it would be much harder to keep control over the Skimwing with Aonung being passed out, only then a wave knocked both of us from the skimwing and the current dragged us away from her. I tried to swim against it but I still wasn't the best swimmer and with Aonung weighing me down I didn't have a chance to swim against the current, so I let it lead us as I tried to make sure both of us had enough oxygen. I noticed an small island, not to big but it could provide us shelter. I used the last of my strength to swim towards it, the current blowing in my back but we made it. I hauled Aonung up on the rocks as I dragged him over to a small cave. I placed him inside and looked for a way to get warm, but the rain had soaked everything so starting a fire was out of the question. I remembered Norm telling me once that the best way to stay warm was body heat and as I looked at Aonung, I decided to do just that. I ripped a piece of the fabric I was wearing and put pressure on the cut on his head. When I was sure the bleeding stopped I cuddled close to the heir of the Metakayina clan to offer him my body warmth. I laid myself down at the exit of the cave to protect him with my body from the cold wind and rain but caring for him drained me and I felt myself fall asleep.
