Neteyam P.o.v:
I remember that we were on the sky people's ship trying to get Spider out as I felt myself being shot as we jumped for our escape. When I fell in the water I had a hard time trying to hold myself above the surface in order to breath. I gasp for air as Loak and Tsireya carried me to safety. I remember the worried faces of my parents as they cried and I knew I was going to die. The only thing I wanted was to go home again, to swing the trees, to fly high in the sky with my ikran, to embrace my family for one last time. I tried to tell them my last wish but I couldn't, I felt the energy slip out of my body as my vision became bright and I figured I was passing through Eywa to be reborn again, like the tales of my people always told me or maybe this already was my second life. It didn't matter when I felt her warmth wrap around me like a blanket, comforting and familiar. I was about to give in but I remembered my family, my parents how mucht they and my siblings need me. I wasn't ready to go yet. So I begged to Eywa to let me live. Then everything around me started to move faster and faster until the light disappeared and got turned into the darkness and my eyes openend again. I awoke screaming my hands clawing at my chest as I felt the shot wound, but I was still alive. Tsireya a looked at me in horror before flinging her arms around me "You are alive, thank the great mother."
"Tsireya." I gasp the pain still noticeable, I look to my chest to see the wound as I was still bleeding "Where is my family?"
She looked at me with tears stained eyes before pointing at the ship that was sinking "Over there."
I groaned in pain as I started to move, trying to see what was happening. "I have to help them."
"No you are wounded, you almost died." She pushed me down looking around frantically. Then I heard her yell out her brother's name. Not a moment later Aonung appeared with his mother Ronal who looked at me in shock.
"Chosen by Eywa." Ronal the tashik mutters as she places her hands on me and treated my wounds.
"I have to help my family, Tashik." I plead Ronal who gave me a look that read not a chance.
Aonung met my eyes "I will help your family."
"You are staying here." Ronal tells her son as she put pressure on my wound.
Aonung shoke his head "Kiri saved me and Roxto when we were being chased by the skypeople, neteyam almost died saving his sibling and Tsireya, we own it to him."
Ronal looks at her son "Do not engage with the enemy, you can search for them but do not fight, flee if they come after you."
He nodded" I will."
I watched Aonung dive before giving me a comforting nod, who knew he would be willing to put himself in danger for a family of freaks. I was ripped out of my thoughts as Ronal patched me up. "You have been lucky, son of the chosen one." She says in disbelief " that gunshot would have been lethal"
"I know." I tell her "I asked Eywa to let me live among you all for a while longer."
"And she listened to you?" She asks in shock.
"I am here among the people." I groan trying to sit upright "I believe she heard me."
"Your family is very peculiar." She says a small smile displaying on her lips "You and your sister both have been gifted by Eywa, how strange you are." But before I could answer I heard a loud noise and saw the ship sink, the ship were my family was one. The ship Aonung went to scout. We all looked in horror as the sea swallowed it whole, Tsiyera grabbed my hand and we sat there holding on to each other, holding onto the slight slimmer of hope of our family making it out alive.
Not much later Aonung returned telling us, he had seen no sign of my family. I thanked him before looking down, I begged Eywa to let me live so I could help them only to find out that they probably hadn't survived. I watched as I saw a familiar Tulkun appear on the surface. On his fin I saw a few blue dots and I realized who they were. I jumped up ignoring the pain and dived in the water. I tried to swim as fast as I could screaming for my family "Mom." I yell "Dad."
I saw all five persons turn their head to me as I let out a sign in relief as I recognized them. "NETEYAM." My mother cries jumping of Payakan the Tulkun and swam to me followed by my father who looked weaker than before. My mother took me in her arms crying, mumbling praises to the great mother, my father embraced both of us and I realized this was the first time I have ever seen my father cry. Payakan reached us and allowed me to climb a top of his fin so I was reunited with my family. My little sister was crying clutching my arm as she and Kiri pulled me in their arms, afraid to lose me. I turn to Lo'ak who hadn't looked at me once. "Lo'ak." I say trying to make him look up at me.
"You almost died." He whispers "Because of me."
"It isn't your fault." I smile placing my forehead against his ruffeling his hair "Don't blame yourself, I didn't stop you and went with you to save spider. It all worked out in the end.
Lo'ak gave me a small smile trying to hide his tears "That's true."
I pulled him in a hug "I am okay, I am alive and well."
"Group hug." Tuk sniffs tugging at my arm as all my family members embraced each other. Payakan brought us to the Metkayina clan before bidding Lo'ak goodbye. Even Ronal bowed to the outcast Tulkan, understanding why he acted that way and fought for his spirit brother. The outcast was not an outcast anymore and Payakan was allowed back in his hurde. The Tulkans left to complete the migration and would come back later this year.
Tsiyera ran to Lo'ak hugging him tight and I smiled at the bond the two of them shared, ,maybe my little brother had indeed found his mate.
After everyone said the goodbye's to the Tulkan and realized none of the People had been killed in the attack of the sky people. Tonowari the Chieftan had gathered the entire clan as we all shared what happened today. When people spoke of my revival I saw a lot of curious glances send my way. My father took a step forward " Olo'eyktan Tonowari. I see you." He did the I see you gesture "You and your family provided us with Uturu and for that I am grateful but with the enemy defeated I can understand if you want us to leave."
Tonowari and Ronal shared a look and as the tsahik nodded he spoke "You are Metkayina now, your son bonded with a Tulkan, your children learned the way of the waters, you have a place in our midst. You are one of the people."
"You are welcome to stay." Ronal says.
My father looked around the clan before settling on us, we all nodded as a sign we agreed to stay here. The general may be defeated but the sky people still threaten our world. "We will gladly accept your offer and be part of the people."
Tonowari smiled before bellowing to everyone that we are now Metkayina and are to be treated as one of them. "Now let's feast and celebrate our victory."
"Everyone you know your tasks." Ronal tells the group as we all scattered and got to work at the preparations of the party tonight. Ronal asked Kiri and tsiyera to help with the wounded, to which they gladly obliged while the other went to clean up and get ready. I on the other hand wasn't allowed to lift a finger on Tsahik orders so I just enjoyed watching my family and friends.
