Chapter 5: Ao'nung p.o.v

I awoke with a throbbing headache and as I took in my surroundings, I noticed I was in a cave with a body draped over me. I looked down to see Neteyam clinging to me. "Neteyam." I shake him trying to get him to wake up. The forest boy opened his eyes and looked at me confused before he sat upright. "How are you feeling." He says before placing his hand on my forehead what made me wince in pain. "I am sorry." He says "I didn't mean to hurt you."
"it's okay." I tell him grabbing his hand "what happened exactly?"
"You hit your head when the wave threw you off from the Skimwing." He explains to me "The rest of the group were already further away so I dived after you and brought you here for shelter."
"You are freezing." I reply concerned as I realized how cold his hands were.
"I used my body to warm you and shield you from the storm."
"You idiot." I exclaim "Why did you do that?"
"Because I care for you." He looks down "That's what friends do, help eachother."
"The storm has calmed down" I tell him "We should head back."
"How? all the Ilu's and Skimwings have returned." Neteyam says before his eyes lit up "Wait let me try something."
I looked at him weirdly as he whistles a long and high pitch "what is supposed to happen."
"Wait." He says "Ikrans and Navi have a special bond, Summus will for sure be looking for me now that the storm has stopped." And as he spoke we saw an Ikran fly low over the water, I smiled at Neteyam as his Banshee landed infront of us.
"Care for a ride?" Neteyam asks me with a smirk as he hugs his Ikran "Not bad for a forest boy right."
"Not bad indeed." I tell him with a smile as he jumps on his Ikran holding out his hand for me so I could climb up as well. "I've never flown before." I tell him anxious as he helps me on the animal.
"Well this is my area." He winks at me "Hold on tight, we don't want you falling off."
"You don't have to tell me twice." I say as I wrap my arms around his waist. I felt him take a sharp breath as I touched him. He was actually very muscular even though he looks a lot more lean than me. I dawned upon me that he was build to adapt to his surroundings in the forest but he was just as strong as I. I could have known that by that one time I got in a fight with his brother whose punches were also not weak.
I felt Neteyam place his hand on mine "Don't let go."
"I won't."
"Tell me if you can't manage to stay on, it is different from riding the Ilu's or Skimwing." He warns me
"I will."
"Okay." He sighs leaning forward before whispering to Summus to fly up. We flew up in the sky as I tightened my grip around his waist as I look around. I never realized the view from so far above the ground.
"How are you doing?" Neteyam turns his head to look at me.
"It's beautiful."
"Next time I will take you out flying during the night." Neteyam smiles "The view is even more breathtaking than now in the sun."
"I will hold you on to that." I smile as we flew to the shore and saw our parents and clan bellow us in the water search for us. One of the clan members blew the horn as we flew above them and landed on the docks. "Neteyam." Neytiri ran to her son pulling him of his Ikran but before I could jump off I was already in my mothers arms as she checked for any injuries. She looked between the both of us "Come with me, I have to check up on you two." She says before addressing my sister "Tsiyera when Jake Sully and you father arrive tell them where we are."
