Chapter 14: Neteyam p.o.v

I was hurt by what Ao'nung said, I only wanted to help the clan and protect my family. So when he called me out I was hurt. But not only because of what he said but because a part of me knew he was right. I stilled when he grabbed my chin and kissed me, I let myself get lost in his taste. As we pulled back I bit my lip "I am sorry."
"I am the one who should be sorry." Ao'nung tells me "I yelled at you, while you were in pain, while you tried to protect us. I am just so scared to lose you."
"Ao'nung, I understand where you are coming from, but you should also understand that I am not going to sit by while I can fight and protect those I love." I place my hand on his cheek "But I will not go off on my own to fight again, I can promise you that."
"I can live with that." Ao'nung says before pecking my lips.
"We should talk about this thing between us, don't we?" I reply.
"Yes." He nods "But you need to heal and rest first."
"I can use my lips."
"Oh I know." He wiggles his eyebrows.
"Stop it." I chuckle and at that moment my father returned and when he saw us sitting together in close proximity, he raises his eyebrows confused.
"I should go." Ao'nung said as he stood up and walked out past my father "Get well soon Neteyam"

"Dad what did you and Chief Tonowari discuss about the sky people." I ask him.
"We aren't going to do anything for now." He tells me "You mother and Ronal wanted to attack but we persuade them to hold of for now and patrol more. We have to figure out what they are planning, last time they took us by surprise by killing Tulkans in our waters to set a trap. We are keeping a close eye on the ship. You mother went flying to find out where the ship is now."
"But we aren't going to let them attack the clan right? Our family?"
"I won't let that happen son." My father sits down next to me "I won't put you or any one else in danger."
"I believe you."
"Well now that I have debriefed you about the meeting" He smiles "that was quite a position you and the next Olo'eyktan were in when I entered."
"Dad if I tell you something will you promise me to keep it between us for now?" I ask him.
"ofcourse son."
"Is it normal for two people of the same gender to feel attracted to one of another?"
My father smiled "Back in my world, on earth it was pretty normal for two people of the same sex to have a relationship and your mother told me that it is also not frowned upon here on pandora. Some clans even have same sex mated pairs as their leaders, so yes it is normal. " he raises his eyebrow at me "Are you asking this because you like Ao'nung."
"I think I like him." I nod
"Well there is nothing wrong with that." My father says "and you have reached the age to mate. But mating is for life, so be sure that if you choose him he chooses you as well."
"I know."
"Good." My father patted my good shoulder "Just so you know I think Ao'nung and you will make a fine pair."
"Thank you dad." I smile at him
