Chapter 19: Neteyam p.o.v

"I have found my mate." I tell my sister on the beach while the rest of the clan were greeting their Tulkun brothers and sisters.
She smirks at me "Is it who I think it is."
"it might." I smile.
"You are talking about Ao'nung right?"
"I am." I bit my lip "I am in love with him"
She smiles brightly before hugging me "that is wonderful news, have you told mom and dad yet?"
"Yes." I nod "I have talked to them because I was worried about the backlash our relationship could get because we are both males and he is the next leader of the clan. But they reassured me I have nothing to be worried about."
"So that dinner we set up last night was a date for you and Ao'nung." She gasps "wait you said you have found your mate, are you two planning to mate."
"Yes, we decided it last night." I take her hand in hers "I want to be with him."
"Aren't you afraid of what will happen?"
"What do you mean? " I ask confused.
"Well Quadritch is till out there hunting us." She lets go of my hand and wraps her arms around herself "What if he finds out you two are mated and uses him against you."
"His main priority is father." I reply not having thought about that yet "He wants our family as bait, so I doubt he would use Ao'nung but it doesn't hurt to be cautious. But since you brought up the subject, I want to mate him even sooner because of that since I don't know how long I will have with him."
"Oh Neteyam." Kiri looks at me "No one is going to die, I won't let it happen again."
"You are a great sister." I smile.
"I know." She winks before looking back at the Ocean.
"So Kiri, is your fear of us being hunted stopping you from getting closer with Roxto?" I ask her trying to get her to open up about her crush.
"Roxto?" she questions.
"Don't play dumb." I nudge her shoulder "I see how the two of you look and act around each other."
"Maybe it plays a part but that is not the main reason why I won't give in as he flirts with me."
I look at her before taking her hand in mine "You are feeling guilty about spider."
"I don't know." She sighs "Maybe. I know Spider and I can never work and I really do like Roxto. I like Roxto a lot but it feels like I am betraying Monkey boy." She looks up at me "So I am torn."
"Who makes your heart flutter?" I ask.
"Roxto." She answers almost immediately.
I smile at her "that was a fast answer."
"I am just so confused." She groans placing her head in her hands "I want Roxto but I can't go all in without thinking of Spider."
"Well if you want to talk about it, you know where to find me." I kiss her forehead.
"Thank you Neteyam." She smiles.
"So want to swim among the Tulkans?" I ask her standing up holding my hand up for him.
"Gladly." She nods letting me pull her upright.
"Please keep the relationship between me and Ao'nung a secret for now, we still have to tell his parents."
"I won't say a word." She smiles.
