I pull up into the driveway of the penthouse and stop the car.
I look over to Adelyn and feel the corners of my mouth tilt up when I see her peacefully sleeping.
I decide to message Marco and Val and tell them I won't need their help moving in.
They both flip me off as they drive away and I carefully get out of the car. Being cautious not to wake Adelyn I unbuckle her seat belt and lift her up. I carry her bridal style and quietly shut her door with my foot.
I make my way into the foyer where the same woman from last time points upstairs, indicating the rooms all ready for us.
I get into the private elevator and adjust my grip on Adelyn, making sure I don't drop her. I let myself take in her peaceful features and smile at her serene face.
Her beautiful amber eyes are shut, with her long lashes resting on her lightly freckled cheeks. Her slightly pointed nose overlooking her perfectly plump lips. I'm so lucky to have her.
I know Anton wants to marry her, he's been trying to strike up deals with me ever since the engagement was announced. That's why I wanted to get legally married so soon. Now that she's my wife it'll be easier to protect her from Anton until we finally have him.
The elevator dings and I curse it for being so loud as I walk out and into our room.
I'm stopped in my tracks when I see a cat lying down on our bed. When it sees me it meows loudly and jumps off the bed, running over to me and trying to climb up my leg. "Shoo cat," I hiss, trying to kick it away. It looks up and hisses at me, then in dawns on me.
"It's what my cat's named after." This little devil is Adelyn's pet.
I gently set Adelyn down on our bed and the cat jumps up beside her and lays down, cuddling itself into her chest. It stretches once before seemingly sinking into Adelyn's body and purring.
Someone's jealous.
Of a cat? No fucking way.
I look at the two sleeping and now I wish I hadn't sent Val away so soon, she could've changed Adelyn into something comfier for sleeping.
I decide against undressing her without her consent and gently tuck her in, covering her with a blanket, being careful not to suffocate the cat.
I tuck a loose bit of hair behind her ear and place a soft kiss on her forehead. My pretty girl.
I walk into our walk-in closet and change into some grey sweats before making my way into the kitchen.
I start getting out the ingredients for pasta but I'm interrupted by my phone ringing. I go to decline before seeing it's Marco. I furrow my eyebrows, he only calls me if it's important, he's more of a texting kind of guy.
"What is it?" I ask him, putting him on speaker so I can continue making dinner.
"You have to leave," Marco says immediately.
I freeze. "What the fuck why?" I ask.
"You remember that hitman for the Russian mafia we caught? We finally got him to speak and he told us that Anton knows about all of Andrè's penthouses and hacked in to all of the security cameras. And now he knows where you and Adelyn are staying." he informs me, "Me and Val are driving back to you guys now, but try to leave before we get there,"
"Fuck," I groan, cursing myself for letting this happen.
"Get Adelyn and drive to our house in France." I hear Val's voice through the phone, "Mum and Dad are there with some of our men and our guards and Anton doesn't know about it so you'll be safe," she orders in her bossy older sister voice.
