CHAPTER 19
[ New Orleans, 2011 ]

Sophie was enjoying the aftermath of her failed plan as much as she could. She was sat upon one of tables in Rousseau's, a man stood between her legs when Sabine entered the establishment, shock evident on her features at the pair. She cleared her throat. "Sorry to interrupt your make out sesh."

Sophie shook her head, looking at the man and patting his shoulders as a signal to leave. She used her now, free hand to pick up a vodka bottle and drank from it as Sabine stepped closer.

"I've been calling you for like an hour." Sabine sighed, exhausted with Sophie's antics.

"I thought you'd have taken the hint." She shrugged, setting the bottle down and turning to Sabine.

"You've been acting like this since Agnes was killed."

"Yeah, can you blame me? It's not like I have a lot to keep me going these days." The witch scoffed, her stare was harsh and empty. She hadn't felt anything at all in the past few weeks.

"Well, while you've been drowning your sorrows by nailing everything that walks, I've been doing my tours, keeping my head down and my ears open. Marcel's daywalkers are scouring the whole town looking for a girl– brown hair, blue eyes. Sound familiar?" Sabine smirked, raising an eyebrow.

Sophie's interest was piqued. "If Davina is not with Marcel, he won't know if we're practicing magic... And, if we can actually get her back, we can fix everything."

"Sun goes down, vampire search parties quadruple. So we better get to work." She held up a hairbrush, waving it around smugly. "I got this from her family's old house. Feel like a locator spell?"

"You should start to feel, like, a weight lifting." Davina was trying her best to inspire hope with her words, but Cami's exhausted features made it clear she would have to try much harder.

"And your cheat sheets are about to make a lot more sense." Josh smiled reassuringly. The pair discovered the confused girl, swarmed with papers and notes that she had left to herself and davina was now trying to restore her memories.

Josh bent down to her eye level, laying the files on the floor beside her. The sunlight that had made its way into the room through a gap in the curtains burnt him, he winced in pain and pulled his hand back quickly. Davina couldn't help but frown, she had let the rush of the last few days distract her. "I promise, as soon as the world stops hunting me, I will find the daylight ring spell."

Josh shook his head. "I know, just... don't worry about that right now."

The pair turned to a confused cami, who was studying a photo. "I remember why I wrote this. I found a picture of Klaus and Marcel from 1919. Klaus compelled me to go out with Marcel, to spy on him. That's what he said yesterday, before he told me to forget. I'm remembering."
