CHAPTER 53
[New Orleans, 2012]

Elijah and Georgia had been driving for what felt like hours. She couldn't help but chew her lip nervously as they crossed the Louisiana state lines, her mind whirring at a million miles per hour. Elijah looked over at her, raising a questioning eyebrow as he squeezed her thigh soothingly. "Nervous?"

"Yeah..."

"Finn and the incessant cockroaches I call mother and father are gone, there is no-"

"I'm not worried about them lijah..." he furrowed his brow before returning his gaze to the road. "It's just - when I left, Marcel and I weren't on the best of terms."

Elijah sucked his teeth, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the steering wheel. "I see"

"He knew about my feelings for you and he was acting out - we got in a fight and..." she sighed, pausing.

"- you don't want him to know" he refused to look at her. He was upset. Elijah wanted to scream from the rooftops about his love for her, and Marcel was a persistent barrier.

"And I know that's a lot to ask because he didn't show you the same courtesy but I just, I want him to hear it from me, you know? Not some smug comment from Klaus or-"

He nodded, looking over at her. "I understand Georgia."

"I'll tell him tonight, I promise" she sighed, running a hand through her hair as she glanced back at Hope, who was sleeping peacefully.

The ballroom of the compound was full of decorators and caterers who were setting up for the wedding. Jackson entered the courtyard, laughing softly to himself as he took in his surroundings. "Ohhhh, I so do not belong in your world."

Hayley scoffed, shrugging. "My world? Give me some credit. I'm not exactly the girl who sat around fantasizing about her wedding day. And, if I had?"

She gestured towards the huge wedding cake which was being wheeled through to the ballroom. "It probably would have looked a little less... this."

He smiled down at her as she took his arm. "Yeah... You getting cold feet?"

"No. This is what's right. For Hope, for our pack." Hayley smiled. Jackson nodded in agreement but she noticed a change in his body language as Klaus entered the room.

"Hayley. If I might intrude, there's someone who wishes to say hello." He smiled, watching as Hayley's eyes lit up. She took Jackson by the hand, ushering him to the front door.

Georgia and Elijah stood before them, a lively Hope cradled in Georgia's arms. Klaus smirked to himself as he picked up on Elijah's arm rested upon the small of her back. Hayley dropped Jackson's hand, rushing towards Hope.

"You brought them here? Finn could be anywhere!" She exclaimed to klaus as Georgia passed the small child to her. Hopes eyes lit up, beginning to babble happily to herself.

"I've taken precautions. There'll be no uninvited guests at your wedding, and after, your wolves will be the first line of defense to this home. No more running, Queen." Klaus smiled at Hayley, who nodded in response. He spun around to Georgia, pulling her in for a hug.

She laughed softly, hugging him back. "Aw did you miss me?"

Klaus chuckled, smiling down at her. "I had no one to be devious with! These lot are incredibly dull but I'm sure you know all about that! You spent a week with the world's dullest man."

Elijah rolled his eyes as Klaus slapped his shoulder playfully. "I'm sure you made good with the company, brother. Perhaps Georgia has rubbed you off - oh heavens that's not the saying!"
