CHAPTER 42
[ New Orleans, 2012 ]

Kaleb had arrived at the cabin, upon the request of Davina. Mikael's sparring sessions had hurt her ankle even more, to the point that she could no longer stand. He brought with him remedies which he was now applying to her. "Yeah, I've heard about this! I've never actually seen it firsthand. It appears someone has knocked you head over heels, quite literally! And I thought I'd have that honor!"

Davina giggled, brushing her hair behind her ear as kaleb scooped some of the herbal poultice from the bowl and began to massage it into the area. Davina wrinkled her nose up at the smell. "Ugh, it smells like-"

"-The wrong end of something quite dead?" He chuckled, continuing to rub it in. "Yeah. It's just a little something I picked up from a shaman bloke in Uganda. There you go!"

The girl sighed in relief, beginning to stand up. "Wow, the pain is just-"

She stumbled on her foot, the pain being gone but not her inability to stand just yet. Kaleb caught her in his lap, letting out a short chuckle. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! It's magic, alright? It's not a miracle."

He shuffled her off of his lap and onto the couch beside him, pulling her leg up gently to rest upon the other chair. With a glance to his left, he noticed vials, herbs and parchments scattered across the coffee table. Davina smiled at him gratefully as she leant back.

"That's quite the spell you've got going here!" Davina laughed, nodding. "I mean, not to pry, but I figured you had your secrets after our last date ended in a werewolf bar brawl."

She sighed. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that."

"Aw, it's alright. I've never really liked dull girls, anyway. That said, what exactly is going on here?" She opened her mouth to answer, but couldn't seem to find her words. Her mind began to argue with her heart as she contemplated telling him everything.

He raised an eyebrow. "You're still not the trusting sort."

"Do you trust me?" She looked up at him.

"Are you slicked?" He chuckled. "Those sad eyes might fool some people, but not me. I know what you're after."

Davina frowned, unsure of what he meant as her eyes swam in confusion and fear.

"You've got a lecherous heart, Davina Claire!" She burst out in a fit of giggles as he continued. "I won't be used, not for my body, nor my medicinal herbs!"

"We can hold hands, that's it!" Kaleb grinned, enjoying seeing her so happy.

He brushed a lock of hair behind her ear, smiling as a blush rose upon her cheeks. "Whatever it is you're up to, well, you can tell me when you're good and ready."

As Georgia and Klaus arrived at the lake house, Georgia was suddenly overcome with a wave of sickness. Her anxiousness wonderings of what was to come causing a physical response. Klaus rushed out of the car, not stopping for a moment as he rushed towards the front door. Georgia caught his hand, pulling him back. "Let me talk to her, please"

Klaus rolled his eyes irritatedly. "That's the whole reason I'm here right? To speak to her. To stop you doing something you'll regret."

"I will relish in the sublimity of-"

Georgia became angry, looking up at him. "Don't you dare finish that sentence. I will speak to her and you will remain calm. You will not butt in-"

He scoffed. "I do not take orders-"
