CHAPTER 27
[ New Orleans, 2011 ]Georgia was in the Cauldron, the old witch town of New Orleans, somewhere she hadn't been in a very long time. She tried her best to avoid the area because while most witches had forgiven her for her crimes, they were still hostile and it was a tough place to be for a witch on the outs. But it was the only place she could gather the supplies needed to contact Davina. Her magic was fading, she could feel it and she didn't want to waste time worrying about what others may think of her. She had learnt from her mistakes.
She browsed the herbs and components upon the shelves of Jardin Gris, the store wasn't the same without Katie but her younger sister had taken over. The store appeared as a tourist attraction for those interested in the things that go bump in the night but everything on its shelves could be used for something, if tourists had the power to utilise them. She picked up a few things before heading to the counter.
Georgia couldn't deny the guilt she felt as she smiled at Katie's sister, Emily. She had sent Katie to her death, and no one knew the wiser - no one but Klaus. She had became an unrecognisable in her pursuit of Davina's freedom and hindsight was a horrible thing. Katie had essentially died for nothing. The only glimmer of reassurance that Georgia held was that Katie was willing to do anything to save Thierry, even if that meant giving her life. "Is that everything today?"
She nodded as Emily bagged the herbs. "$22.70-"
The door burst open, 3 vampires stood in the doorway and the two witches shared worried glances. Diego appeared in the centre of the men. "Mess the place up but don't touch them unless you want to end up at the bottom of the Mississippi."
Georgia shot Diego a grateful look to which he shook his head. "I may be under Klaus orders but I know Marcel cares about you, he'd have me dead. Just stay out of trouble Georgia"
She nodded, watching as the men toppled shelves causing the little glass bottles to smash all over the floor. Emily began to speak out in protest, but Georgia stopped her. She whispered in a hushed tone. "Don't say anything, it won't end well."
Emily nodded, sighing. The pair watched the men leave as the younger witch grabbed for the broom. "When are they going to stop this? Our magics fading"
"I think it's preemptive" Georgia picked up one of the shelves and put it back in place. "So we don't get any ideas before we're powerless"
"Georgia why don't you do something? The Mikaelsons and Marcel clearly trust you. Why don't you speak for us?" She sighed as she brushed up the broken glass.
"Because Emily... the witches hate me, I've crossed them too many times. A lot of them probably blame me for this."
Emily shook her head. "Give it a try, when they see results, they can't argue"
The guilt Georgia felt forced her to agree. She knew what it felt like to lose a sister, and the fact Emily had no idea that she was responsible almost ate her alive. "I'll give it a try"
