Happily never after {FINISHED}

Chapter 49.

I reached out my finger tips, carefully trying to find your hand to hold. I reached out my hand, trying to find your warm, tattooed arm to stroke. My eyes flickered open, helping me to find you. The other side of the bed was empty. I rolled onto my back and shut my eyes for a second, remembering your gorgeous young face. I smiled as I had the imagine in my head of you laughing at something I just said. Today's my birthday. And it's been exactly 1 month since you left. My eyes opened and I kissed my hand, using that same hand to pat your pillow. Carefully rolling my fragile body out of the bed, I got my dressing gown and wrapped it round me, walking down stairs. I haven't eaten a thing since you left... I don't even feel hungry.
I'm back to where I started.. Living alone in this poxy house. Except it's different, you no longer live across the street anymore. I switched the TV on and watched the news- it went on about a car accident that happened recently. I rolled me eyes, sulking in my seat, remembering how Jai died and how quickly he left. There was a knock at my door. I stood up and slowly walked to the door, opening it.
"Happy Birthday, beautiful." It was Luke. I haven't seen him much after Jai's passing... I haven't really left the house. I took one look at him and my heart flipped a little, seeing the Jai in Lukes face. Luke leant forward and kissed my cheek.
"Thank you." I smiled, allowing Luke to enter my house.
"How you feeling?" He asked, looking at the picture of Jai and I hanging on the wall.
"Shit... How about you?" I asked, sitting back down on my sofa- Luke came and sat next to me. I stared at his face... It wrinkled the same way Jai's did.
"I'm getting better." He replied, staring back at me.
"I just miss him, Luke.." I sighed, putting my head in one hand.
"We all do, Steph... We all do." He sighed, "Anyway, I've got presents!" He said excitedly, trying to lighten up the mood.
"This is from me." He said, handing me a box. I opened it to see a Swarovski necklace. I gasped slightly.
"Oh my god, Luke! It's beautiful! Thank you." I leant over on the sofa and hugged him.
"Anything for you." He replied, smiling. He handed me a disk, "I'll let you watch this when you're alone." He said, looking at me sympathetically. I looked down at the disk confused. Black permanent marker was printed on the front reading "Steph. X" and straight away I recognised the hand writing...... Jais.

"Hey guys! We're Japh, and this is the boyfriend tag!" I said, starting my YouTube video. "Boyfriend tag." Jai mimicked me, scrunching his nose up slightly. "Excuse me?" I asked Jai politely, facing him. "I said, I love you..." He replied, raising his eyebrows slightly. "I love you too.." I replied, tapping his cheek lightly, portraying the emotions of a massive slap, showing I knew what he actually said.~ the video Luke handed to me started with the beginning of our boyfriend tag back in 2015. My name appeared on the blank screen now, "Steph..." "I miss you" by Ed Sheeran played over the top- mine and Jais song. Followed by a photo of Jai and I on a Rocky Mountain after we went to Morocco. More words appeared "this video is to wish you a..." And then another video popped up. It was a video of us laughing into a kiss when we were in Morocco. It was meant to be a photo, but Jai hit record instead. "Happy Birthday!" My favourite video ever played after this... It was a flipagram we made from our honey moon. We went to Barbados, where the pink sand beaches are. There were videos of us running into the translucent sea, there were photos of us before going out for dinner, and of me on the pink sand beaches, there were photos of both of us on the pink sand beach, there were little videos of us coasteering along the rocky coast of Barbados. That was really amazing.
The rest of My birthday video was so heart warming- it just basically time travelled through our lives- watching us getting older. I cried. And I cried hard- grabbing the blanket Jai bought me, which was now hanging off the back of the sofa- wrapping it around me. "I love you." I whispered, hoping Jai could hear.
