Katie waited outside her home for Ryder to pick her up. It was a warm and clear night and the perfect time for a date. A faint red glow pulled Katie back to reality. Ryder stood next to her "Hello darling." "Ryder!" Katie hugged him tightly and kissed him on the cheek.  Ryders face was a bit hard to see, as it was nighttime, but his eyes were glowing in a red color yet again. Just like she had seen the nightly dates before. "You missed me, didn't you?" "I did..." Katie knew there was no use in trying to deny anything. Ryder knew her too well and as he described it, the scent of her blood told him everything.

"Where are we going tonight?" "A special cave darling. The view from there is amazing." Ryder said and then he took off his shirt. A pair of leathery wings grew from his back and he gave his shirt to Katie. Ryder got behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist "Close your eyes for me darling. I want it to be a surprise for you." his whisper sent a shiver down Katies spine and she listened to his words. A few quiet minutes passed, the silence was only broken by Ryder, who occasionally flapped his wings. Once she felt solid ground underneath her feet again, she dared opening her eyes.

From the cave she could overlook all of adventure bay, even the paw patrols lookout. "Wow...it is..beautiful..." Katie was speechless. Ryder didn't promise too much when he said that the view was amazing. "Your heart is beating faster darling." Ryder said. He heard how her blood rushed trough her veins, he heard how her heart was beating inside her chest and he smelled her blood. The sweet odor had gotten stronger and it made him a little dizzy. "Are you okay?" "Yeah I am fine. Just...your blood smells so intense right now." Katie smiled. "Does it? Tell me more." She purred and moved closer to Ryder. "I hear how your heart beats against your chest. I can hear how your blood runs through your veins, hell, I can even see the veins on your neck." Katie touched her neck out of reflex.

Sometimes the way Ryder flirted with her gave her the impression that he wanted to bite her. When she had found out about his secret, he had promised to never do anything like that without her permission, but now he had that look in his eyes. "Ryder, why do vampires bite their mates?" She asked, hoping to distract Ryder from her blood. "To mark them. We regularly need to drink human blood, but that doesn't leave any scars. If a human has a bite mark, there is a vampire that likes them." He explained and Katie thought about it.

"It wouldn't turn me, right?" "Nah. I don't have the nerves for such ritual now. And you aren't even marked. Technically, you are supposed to be considered nothing more than a food source. Not to me though." "Well then, bite me." "What?" "You heard what I said. Bite me. That is what you think of right now, correct?" "Well yeah, sort of but no." "Why not?" "Everyone would suspect me to be the one that bit you." "No one else knows that you are a vampire." "Not now, but they'll figure it out. Especially Chase. Vampires leave their scent on their mate with that scar." Katie took a deep breath and then said "I don't care. I am willing to take that risk and I love you. For you I'd give up all of my blood." "Don't say that. It could have been your death if I was in a blood fever." Katie was silent for a moment but there was one thing she could try to convince Ryder.

She put on a sad face and said in her cutest voice "Please?" "Fine. But don't blame me if it hurts." He said and let his fangs grow. "Scared? I thought so." Ryder teased but Katie didn't allow herself to be a coward now. She closed her eyes and took her hand away from her neck. Ryder was behind her again and gently held her wrists. "It is easier if I see the veins...Did you know that your pulse is faster when I whisper in your ear?" Ryder was dangerously close to her right ear and she shivered again. "So you do want it." Katie stated and Ryder chuckled a little. "You have no idea for how long I wanted to taste your blood..."

He lowered his mouth to her neck and pressed his fangs onto her skin. Katie felt how he bit her neck, she felt how his teeth pushed into her skin and made her bleed. She gasped in surprise of the pain but Ryder covered her mouth. He pulled his teeth out of the fresh wound and continued with closing his lips around it. Katie was surprised on how gentle he sucked the blood out of her wound. The movement of his lips felt like a little massage and she enjoyed this moment. When Ryder pulled away, her wound was healed and he had a bit of blood on the corner of his mouth. "How did it taste?" "Deliciously sweet. I think if I am not careful, it might get me addicted." He answered and Katie smiled.

She touched the scar, slowly circling it with her finger. "D-Don't Katie, I feel it too." Ryder blushed a bit, but now Katie knew that this mark really was a special connection between her and Ryder.
