The music coming out of the Club is loud, as always. Enough to be audible outside.
Eddy, standing before the entrance, sighs and puts his earplugs in.
Oh, what he does for a chance at love. He takes a deep breath and enters.
He wades through the crowd and leaves his coat by the cashier.

He doesn't know how he has managed to survive this last week. It has been full of questions he can't answer without the culprit at hand that had caused them to arise in the first place.
His friends have been very supportive though.
They were stunned to hear that he and Brett had a hot, sweet, lovely evening and night. But they also can't figure out the sudden change in behaviour in the morning. It led to a lot of speculation, but nothing has made it clear. Eddy came to the conclusion that he really can't think of anything he could have said or done wrong. He just had a super nice evening, with great hot sex, a nice peaceful sleep and a surprise concert in the morning. The only thing missing was having breakfast together, while sitting on the couch watching an anime or the like.

"Who could have imagined that that playboy has a nice side. Maybe he got cold feet?" Timo suggested.

"Why the fuck does he leave our Eddy all by himself then?! He could have said something! Anything! To keep you in the dark like this, the bastard. The man clearly doesn't deserve you Eddy!" Luke is always on his side. Even when he doesn't know what it's all about, he's nothing but loyal.

Of course Eddy has been fretting about it all week, built up an unhealthy lack of sleep because of it too. But tonight he hopes to see him. Talk to him. Make things clear. He needs to know where he and Brett stand. Is he in for more? Will he go with him again? One can only hope, right?

And now they are here again. Loud music surrounding them.
Luke is obviously thrilled they went together again. He always likes it when the three of them hang out. And this Club is really his cup of tea. Luke loves the loud music, the crowd, the pheromones. In other words everything Eddy hates about this kind of place. And Luke goes well with it too. Tonight he's wearing purple jeans that are way too tight and a shirt with an all-over rainbow print, in the brightest colours imaginable. They barely have entered the building and he's already dancing.

Eddy looks at him with some envy. Oh how I wish I had his confidence. Everything would be so much easier.
Instead, he returns to his place where he's settled himself for the last few times, orders a drink and glances over the crowd.

His heart skips a beat when he sees Brett dancing in the centre. Immediately he feels the butterflies trying to burst out of his chest like a chestburster in a Alien movie. Shall he go to him?But Brett is surrounded by a lot of people, and mostly girls. Attractive ones also.A flash of jealousy strikes through him.
He wonders again for the 1000th time this week what will happen when Brett sees him. Will he come to him, like last time? Or will he shun him away, choosing someone else?
He ponders whether he'll go to him at that well illuminated spot in the centre. But there are just too many people there and he'll be just too exposed. He can't figure it out, so he just stays at his spot, looking closely at the black haired figure of his interest.

After a minute it happens.
Brett locks eyes with him.
The imaginary thread forms immediately, loosely binding them together.
Brett startles for a moment and looks like he is going to avert his eyes.
But at the last moment he doesn't.
He clearly hesitates. And then leaves the dance floor to walk to Eddy in one straight line.

"Hi." he greets, almost shy.
There is just a hint of his normal bravado. Eddy loves the change. He's never seen it here. He's flattered. It's just for him, and only triggered by him, right?

"Hi you too. Fancy a beer?" Eddy asks, pleased to have him here with him.

"Yes, please." Brett smiles.

Brett leans against the bar beside him, a beer in his hand. They talk amicably about all kind of things popping up in their head. They both agree that the music here is way too loud and too simplistic and that classical music is so much better. And that they are acting like elitists now. They laugh. They banter. They have a good time together. It feels uncomplicated.

However, as the evening progresses, Eddy notices that a few girls are visiting them from time to time, evidently to get Brett's attention. Brett seems to not notice it, or maybe he just doesn't want to.
Then a beautiful dark haired woman stops right behind him and stands so close that her breasts are pressed against him. She then leans forward, wraps her arms around him, circles his belly with her fingers and trails her hands lower to his nether regions and squeezes softly on top of his fly before whispering something in Brett's ear.
Eddy's eyes almost fall out of their sockets. What audacity this woman has to do this! He and Brett were in a conversation just now and she just interrupted them?! What the actual fuck?! So what now? What will Brett do? Will he go with her and leave him behind?

But Brett doesn't even startle. He smiles, takes the hand from his fly and pushes it gently aside. He then turns around and tells her he's busy. "Sorry, babe. Maybe next time."
He throws in a fat wink and an air kiss and turns to Eddy again.
"Where were we?" he proceeds as if nothing happened.

Eddy however has some difficulty coping with the situation, not believing what he just witnessed.

"Is it always like this?" he asks Brett amazed.

"Not always. But yes, they sometimes do this kind of shit. I didn't feel like it though." He takes a small step back, looks Eddy up from head to toes and back up again. "I would rather have someone else." He blinks a few times slowly, a sly smile around his lips. He closes distance, legs touching and looks up through his lashes and licks his lips provocative. "Want to go to the darkroom with me, Eddy?"

Eddy is startled at the sudden mood swing and the invitation. A feeling of unease overtakes him. This will be the turning point he has been afraid off. Will he go and just have him? Or does he decide that he wants more. He already knows the answer of course.

"Brett... Sorry. I'm not the darkroom-quick-fuck-type. I would love you to come with me though, and have a good time. But you have to know I'm not really the right person for a one-night stand." He says it resolutely, more than he feels.
Saying this sentence to the biggest playboy in the room takes a whole different kind of courage than feeling him up. The implication behind the words are clear: You want me? Then you're in it for the long haul. If Brett has a fear of commitment, he'll shy away. Or if he doesn't like Eddy more than physically, he will most likely leave. But Eddy has to take this risk. He doesn't want a relationship purely based on casual sex. Even if that idea is indeed tantalizing, he knows he needs more. He wants the total package that Brett is.

Brett does flinch. But he also doesn't recoil, so that's a win.
He looks at Eddy for the longest time, his face serious, searching his eyes for answers.

"I don't know if I can do that Eddy." he hesitantly says, a frown in his forehead.

"Want to find out?" Eddy retorts, reaching for Brett's hand.

VNV Nation: Legion

Enveloped in a sentiment, a sound that rushes over me.
Engage an impulse to pretend
I have a faith as pure.
Not forgetting what it means to dream.
Indulging everything.
Entertaining thoughts that I've the strength of those I yearn to be.
Cheers and tribute greet the saviors.
Reckless thoughts survive.
Anachronistic and impulsive.

And what will happen?
Will I dream?
I am too scared to close my eyes.
For a second please hold me.
None can change in me these things that I believe.
But I don't know what happens now.
I am too scared to close my eyes.
