Jules

I placed my phone down on the kitchen counter and looked at it confused

"Still no answer?" Natalie asked as she looked over at me, eyes full of concern

I shook my head "no it's just rolling over to voicemail. Did you get hold of Alex? Maybe he's taken her home?" I asked hopefully.

"Umm, yeah she replied. She apologised but I think it got a bit much for her so she got Chase to pick her up a few hours ago"

There goes that theory then. I didn't want to act like a jealous girlfriend but I'd woken up this morning to find my boyfriend was gone and the guest room that Alex was meant to be staying in was empty too. No note from either of them or anything. I was pretty sure Nate had maybe just got up early and headed out because there was coffee in the machine and his mug was in the sink. I'd convinced myself maybe he'd offered to drive her home but apparently that wasn't the case. Why wasn't he returning any of my calls or texts. Had something Happened to him. Just as the thought went through my mind the sound of the front door opening snapped my attention and a few seconds later in walks Nate.

"There you are, you had me worried" I breathed a sigh of relief as I engulfed him in a tight hug watching as Natalie smiled over at us.

"See told you it was nothing to worry about" she smirked as she finished off her coffee and picked up her phone from the counter. "Luc is on his way to get me, did you guys fancy going out for breakfast with us?" She offered cheerfully

"Uh yeah that sounds-" I started before Nate cut me off

"Actually Nat I kind of have some stuff I need to talk to Jules about this morning so can we have a rain check on breakfast"

I watched as they shared what seemed like a knowing look before Natalie smiled back at me

"Sure, I'll just go grab my stuff from upstairs and then I think I'll wait outside for Luc. It looks like it's going to be a nice sunny day so some fresh air might help wake me up a bit" she nodded back at Nate and hurried out of the kitchen leaving me feeling like something was up. Was there something going on here that I didn't know about? That's what it was beginning to feel like.

I returned my gaze to Nate who was watching me intently, his expression looked grave. There was definitely something going on that I didn't know about and I was pretty sure that I was about to find out.

"Can we sit down" he asked in sort of a nervous mumble as he gestured to the seats at the breakfast bar. I sat down wordlessly, never taking my eyes off of his. Trying to read his expression but it remained tense.

"Nate what's going on, has something happened?" I asked as he reached out and took my hands in his.

"Jules I need to tell you something. I need you to promise me that you will keep and open mind and that you'll let me finish completely explaining everything to you before you decide what you want to do" his words were serious. I felt my hands instantly clam up as he held them tightly in his.

"Nate what's going on, are you breaking up with me?" I asked tearfully as I felt emotion build up inside. His hands were on my face stroking away the freshly flowing tears

"Baby I love you so much, I need you to remember that. Please can you hear me out, I really need you to listen to everything I have to say?" His green eyes met mine and I nodded at him as another sob escaped my mouth. He closed his eyes and rested his forehead against mine for a few seconds before pulling away and returning his hands to my own and holding them in his lap.

"Jules I need to be honest with you about my past. My past with Alex and Chase"

My body instantly tensed up, had something happened with them last night. Is that why Alex had left? Did they still want to be together after all. I couldn't stop my mind from running wild.
