Back in Time

Chapter 13

Alex P.O.V

"Do you promise to listen to everything we have to tell you without interrupting, or without randomly just deciding to leave?" Monica asked.

We both nodded "We promise," Joey spoke for the both of us.

"And you promise to try and keep an open mind? Don't just think we're lying just because something sounds insane alright?" she asked.

Again Joey nodded and spoke for us, "We promise to try and keep an open mind," he said.

I saw her visibly relax but Roxanne had a worried look on her face "They're going to freak out" she whispered to her.

Monica turned to both of us with a hard look "And don't judge us as crazy! We're not crazy! Or mentally ill, we didn't hit our heads, we are not on drugs, we don't have hallucinations either, or anything like that! Alright?" she asked, particularly me.

I nodded silently, still too shocked to be able to speak properly.

She let out a deep breath "Alright, this is a long story, and it might be confusing so please try and keep up" she said.

Joey and I nodded attentively showing them that we were giving them our full attention.

"One more question, now you believe that we're from the future right? I mean, what more prove do you want that that?" she asked pointing to the machine behind us.

"No," I blurted before I could stop myself.

They both snapped their eyes to me so fast I startled, "I-I mean, no, I can't believe it just yet" I tried to correct.

Roxanne sighed "We told you we were from the future, and we told you we had arrived in a time machine, but you didn't want to believe us" she said.

"Yeah, in a way, we did kind of warn you. It's not our fault you didn't believe us" Monica added.

Joey shook his head, "We believe you are from the future I mean, your time machine is right in front of us! How can we not believe you? Unless again, this is some sort of prank-"

"No prank at all, we told you, we're not joking around" Monica interrupted.

"So then?" I asked "How is it possible? I mean, how was it possible for you girls to travel back in time?" I asked curiously.

Curious, I was so deadly curious!

"You better sit," she said plopping down on the ground, Roxanne sat next to her and we had no choice but to sit in front of them.

I had a feeling I needed to be sitting anyways, from what I was about to hear.

Monica began, "The time machine was built by Roxanne's mom, Emma, she's a very intelligent woman, and I mean, very intelligent woman. It took her at least 3 months to construct it, she worked on it day and night. It was built so that we could go back in time 5 years, but instead we went back 25" she explained.

I widened my eyes "25?" I repeated.

She nodded "Yes, we don't know if it was just a malfunction from the time machine, or if it was Aunt Emma's mistake, but it doesn't matter, we travelled back to the past" she said.

"I can't believe this," I whispered "Someone was actually able to build a time machine in the future?"

"Yes, the world advances a great deal in the future" she said "Not only did Aunt Emma invent the time machine, but she was also able to create a helicopter that flies twice as fast as a normal one," she said.
