Monica P.O.V

Roxanne and I gripped onto each other as the time machine landed somewhere with a huge thud. The impact made us both tumble down to the ground, and very slowly the machine turned off leaving us with a vibrating sensation.

It ended that fast. The trip only lasted about ten seconds. The time machine grew dark again as it slowly began to turn off.

Both Roxanne and I laid still on the ground, none of us wanting to move first, neither of us spoke.

Finally after the machine stopped making noises completely I raised my head, "Where do you think we are?" I whispered hoarsely.

She raised slowly also and gave me a nervous look, "I'm not sure," she whispered back.

I ignored the way my stomach flipped and stood up, I let out a deep breath and helped her up, "We might as well go out," I said.

I swallowed hard as we walked towards the latch of the time machine, one look out the window and my stomach dropped completely "Oh," I whispered disappointed.

"What?" she looked out the window also, "Oh," she said too sounding just as disappointed.

"We're back at the laboratory," I said feeling my lower lip quiver, what had I been expecting?

I tried not to get upset, tried not to cry, I mean, really I had already known we had to come back someplace! At least we didn't disappear, I thought feeling sullen, at least we didn't get stuck in time or something worse.

I looked outside doubtfully, if we had come back to the old laboratory, then did that mean that the vampires who had been here before we left were still here?

My lungs seemed to freeze at the thought and I gripped Roxanne's hand before she could make one single movement, "Wait!" I hissed.

She looked at me startled "What is it?"

"Roxanne, just wait right here for a moment alright?"

She frowned in confusion "Why?"

"Trust me, just trust me, I want you to wait here while I go out and investigate, Roxanne...if I tell you to go back in time one more time, do it alright?"

She widened her eyes and stared at me as if I were crazy "Monica what are you saying? We just got back from time!"

"I know," I said slowly "But if I tell you to go back once more do it," I ordered.

She looked even more puzzled "Why? You're making no sense" she frowned.

I sighed, I didn't want to scare her too much "Remember when we left? How those...vampires were going to attack us?" I asked quietly.

She nodded slowly and then her eyes widened in comprehension "Oh!" she gasped looking out the window quickly "You think they're here?" she whispered so quietly I barely heard her. She took one stiff step back automatically, and she all of a sudden looked on the verge of having a panic attack.

I gripped her shoulders "No, I'm not sure, but that's why I want you to stay here while I investigate" I whispered quietly.

There was no point in whispering, if the vampires were out there then they could hear us no matter how quiet we tried to be. I wondered if they were out there right now, waiting for the second we opened the door. Silently laughing at how idiotic we were being?

She gripped my arms back and dug her nails into my arm so hard I winced "I'm not letting you go out there!" she declared nervously.

"I'll be fine, I just want to make sure that we're-"
