TOMOKO AWOKE WITH excruciating pain burning her entire body. She coughed, trying to rid the soreness in her throat. Her vision was blurry and half obscured.

Upon wiping away the blood from her face, she could see better and realised The Beach had completely collapsed. Yet, Tomoko had somehow survived. Her head pounded like a hammer was attempting to break into it, her arm was almost completely numb with anguish.

Luckily, a pillar had fallen right above Tomoko, stopping any more debris from crushing her. Maybe the universe was on her side — but it had a weird way of showing it.

Although she could barely make sense of her thoughts, Tomoko tried to focus. The longer she stayed here, the quicker she would die. So, she had to get moving.

After assessing her situation, Tomoko realised her only way out was to crawl underneath the pillar. So, she did exactly that.

Once she was free, she managed to stand. Her legs were weak and her balance was not good, but she had no other choice but to keep walking. She noticed a hole had been created during the collapse of the building. Thankfully, there was a pile of rubble leading up to it.

Almost grinning with relief, Tomoko stumbled toward it until she was close enough to crawl up the rubble and slide through the hole.

She jumped onto the floor below, grunting as she fell onto her knees in the process. There's a medical centre not far from here, Tomoko thought, I just need to make it there.

And make it she did.

Ebbing in and out of consciousness, Tomoko stumbled into the medical centre and immediately started searching for supplies to use for her surgery. Thankfully, she found some painkillers and a hatchet in an room that had been set up as an a abandoned bedroom.

As soon as she gathered everything she needed, Tomoko got to work on amputating her arm. She took some painkillers, hoping they would be enough, and examined her arm. Most of the muscle and bones had already been partially amputated from the debris crushing it so her job was to chop through the rest of it.

A shiver rattled down Tomoko's spine. She really was doing this. Even though it was the only option, it still was hard for her to grasp the reality of the situation. She tried to steady her nerves; she wouldn't be of any use to herself if she was a terrified mess. She needed to be strong right now.

At the last moment, Tomoko grabbed ahold of a nearby wooden spoon and clamped it between her teeth. It was clear that someone used to live in the medical centre and she was glad they had left some supplies.

With one quick swing, Tomoko slams the hatchet into her arm. She sobbed in agony, tears streaming down his face. Leaning her full weight on the blade, there was a resounding crack and she screamed around the spoon in her mouth, splinters flying outwards. After pulling the hatchet away, she frantically poured on hydrogen peroxide, before dumping the chemicals she had found over her now amputated arm to cauterise the wound.

Spitting out the wooden spoon, Tomoko panted as she stared at her arm. The only remains of the limb were what was above her elbow. She grabbed the bandages she had prepared and wrapped it around the amputation to protect the healing tissue.

Then, she moved onto her sprained ankle. It seemed that while she was unconscious, it had healed itself as the pain had ebbed away into a light ache. That, or she was so disassociated from the shock of reality that she couldn't fully feel her wounds.

   Most likely the latter.

Either way, she decided to treat it. In her state, any new injury could get her killed. She wrapped the last of the bandages around her ankle and around the wound on her head.

As the bandage passed her ear, she noticed the sound faded away. She decided to test her theory and brushed her hair over one of her ears — and she heard nothing.

   She was deaf.

"Fuck." She grunted out in annoyance. Surely, it had to be from Niragi. No debris had hit her head. "Still irritating me, even when he's dead."

Tomoko knew she needed to rest now. However, her stomach was growling at her, urging her to feed it. She headed into the abandoned bedroom from before and picked up the food cans she had noticed when she had first entered. Quickly opening them, she ate all of the food in rapid pace.

Eventually, she collapsed onto a hospital bed in a secluded corner of the medical centre. As she closed her eyes, a smile spread across her face as she realised something.

She was alive. She was fucking alive. Tomoko could find Chishiya and Kuina. She could reunite with them; she could finally be happy with them. That night, she went to sleep with a happy grin on her face, fingers brushing her lips as she recalled the warmth that had spread through her when Kuina kissed her.

But that happiness didn't last for long.

Tomoko awoke to crashing and muttering. Someone was grumbling about a thief and stolen food. With a horrible feeling in her stomach, she realised that the supplies she had used hadn't been abandoned.

And now, she had an angry survivor after her.

AUTHOR NOTES
don't ask me how tomoko survived, she's just a badass. be grateful ok? LMFAO. but yea it's possible purely bc niragi got shot like a billion times, got burned to a crisp and fell off a building and still lived for like the next 2 weeks. also i did a lot of research on amputation but this is probably still inaccurate bc im not a doctor so if anything's wrong, tell me how to fix it and i will, or just ignore it lol 😭! i decided tomoko would be half deaf bc when i was writing this chapter i was sick for like a week straight and for some reason i also went deaf in one ear for a week straight so. that was Weird. but im ok now.
also the kuina x tomoko ship name is kumoko, thanks to ryuoxpress for creating it <3
