"HOW ARE THINGS going over there, Kuina?" Chishiya asked his friend over his walkie talkie. The duo were carrying out their plan once more but with the real safe. Usagi and Arisu had both been punished — Arisu was tied up in a room, waiting for his visa to end and the laser to pierce his skull, and Usagi had been dragged into a room with Niragi a bit after that. It filled Tomoko with fear for Usagi, but she forced herself to stay by her brother's side and carry out their plan.
"It's alright, I guess." Kuina replied, clearly sounding bored. "Aguni is still in his room."
"We're almost done." Tomoko told her in reassurance, trying to alleviate her lack of interest, as she and her brother walked into the royal suite.
Taking the walkie talkie off of his twin, Chishiya stated, "I have no idea if Arisu is smart or stupid. There's no way they'd keep the cards in an ordinary safe."
"Where do you think the real safe is?" Kuina asked.
As she approached said location, Tomoko stated, "When Aguni was in the royal suite, he wasn't interested in punishing Arisu. He was staring at a painting on the wall of a deer. It's human nature to slip up and glance at something but he was fully staring. Usually, he has a good poker face yet this time he was frowning. This leads me to believe that the paper in that envelope must have had something on it to tell him to look in that direction. Maybe a drawing of a deer."
The other two waited in anticipation as Tomoko lifted the painting off of the wall. As she had predicted, it revealed a safe. Upon inputting the code and opening the door, she grinned, "Bingo! We found it."
"So this is why you sacrificed them?" Kuina questioned.
"You have to lose something to gain something." Chishiya replied simply as he collected the cards and slipped them into his pocket, before hanging up the painting and covering his traces.
Kuina heaved out a sigh, "All I know is that I sure as hell wouldn't want to be your enemy."
"Yeah, we get that a lot." Chishiya smirked.
Hurriedly, Tomoko took the walkie talkie from her twin's hand to reassure her crush, "And you never would be our enemy, by the way!"
Kuina giggled, which was joyful music to Tomoko's ears, "Of course not. You two like me too much."
At her words, Tomoko's eyes widened and she went a light shade of pink. Did Kuina know about her romantic feelings? Or was she making a general statement about their friendship? Either way, it resulted in Chishiya snickering at Tomoko, which made her feel even more flustered.
"Let's meet up at the side exit." Chishiya told Kuina.
As the duo walked down the halls, Tomoko heard faint screaming. When she neared the room that Usagi was in, she heard the words fully:
"Get off of me! Get off!"
Chishiya breezed past, unbothered. Tomoko wished she could do that, too, but a protective guilt clawed at her. She blurted out, "You keep on going, Chi. I'll be there in a few minutes, I just need to get something."
He stared at her, puzzled, but Tomoko had taken off running before he could question her.
Using as much speed as she could, Tomoko felt her heart pound in her chest. Whether it was because of the exercise or the fear, she wasn't sure — but she had a bad feeling in her gut as well. Niragi was annoying. Annoying lead to dangerous, and Tomoko had a feeling he was finally enacting that danger.
Once she reached the room, Tomoko crouched down and peered inside to gain insight to what was happening.
She had been right: something was very wrong. Niragi was trying to rape Usagi.
Blinded with rage, Tomoko rushed into the room. A group of Niragi's goons had Usagi pinned down and so she went for one of them first. She leaped onto their back, pulling out her switchblade and stabbing them in the neck. Their grip on Usagi loosened as they slumped to the ground, blood pooling at their lips.
"You fucking bitch! You always ruin everything!" Niragi spat at her.
Lucky for Tomoko, he had left his gun elsewhere. She raised her switchblade at him as a warning, "Let her go. Or else."
"In your goddamn dreams!" Niragi threw her own words back at her.
Suddenly, the power in The Beach switched off for a second. During that second, during that sudden darkness, Tomoko leaped at Niragi. She shoved him to the floor and attempted to shove her blade through his brain. He fought back and pushed her hands away, resulting in her stabbing his shoulder instead.
As he screamed in agony, the lights turned back on. Niragi's goons had been confused, letting go of Usagi to try find Niragi and help him. Thinking fast, Tomoko sprung to her feet, grabbed Usagi's wrist and hauled her off of the bed, sprinting out of the room.
"Keep running! Don't slow down!" Tomoko urged her, thankful that the girl was athletic enough to keep up with her.
"Where's Arisu? I need to find Arisu!" Usagi exclaimed as she began to slow.
Tomoko shook her head, "We already got him. He's with Chishiya and Kuina. Now, hurry up!"
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
With that, the two continued dashing down the hallways, navigating the twist and turns. Tomoko could hear Niragi and his goons chasing after them and when she glanced over her shoulder, she realised they were gaining on them.
"This way!" Tomoko yelled as she rounded a corner. She shoved open a door and pulled Usagi into a random room.
That random room belonged to Ann.
"What are you—" She started but Tomoko slammed a hand over her mouth, pressing a finger to her own lips to tell her to be silent.
The three listened anxiously as furious footsteps stormed past the room. Once they had become a faint sound in the distance, Tomoko pulled away and relaxed. Ann glared up at her and Tomoko realised she had smeared her lipstick across her face. Tomoko also realised that whilst other people would make a comment on her messiness, she still looked as gorgeous as ever to Tomoko.
"Just go." Ann snapped at her.
Calling out an apology as she left, Tomoko continued her journey with Usagi. It wasn't long before they reached the side exit. Thankfully, everyone was there. Or everyone who should be there was there.
"Where's Arisu?" Usagi demanded. As soon as those words left her mouth, she realised, "Tomoko, you lied to me!"
"I had to. Otherwise, Niragi and his gang would have caught us both and beaten us into pulps." Tomoko returned.
"Why the hell did you bring her?" Chishiya asked.
"Yeah! Why the hell did you bring me here? Because I don't want to go without Arisu." Usagi snapped as she began to storm away.
"C'mon guys, let's just go before anyone catches us." Kuina stated, trying to cut through the tense argument. She began to walk out of The Beach but Chishiya stopped her.
"Wait!" He exclaimed, placing a hand up to halt her actions. Pulling off his locker key bracelet, he tossed it in front of him.
A laser shot through it.
"No fucking way..." Tomoko gaped as she realised what had happened.
The Beach had become a game arena.
