How do you forget someone that was never yours? Perhaps, the greatest predicament that mankind has ever faced is the fact that some questions are bound to not have any answers.
I could read all the love books and watch all romance movies, yet none could ever teach the secret of ending unwanted flashbacks and nights that drown me in the sea of nonsensical curiosities. Love is a conundrum that even experts find hard to answer.
The bloodcurdling truth is, you never forget someone who was never yours, nor even sprint from his shadows. Accept it or not, he is always a part of the person you used to be.
He may be the poem you once wrote or a song that takes space in your favorite playlist. He could also be the scent of the morning dew, the bouquet of red roses you pass by each day, or the cappuccino you order from the cafe on 7th street that the two of you used to go to.
And you may not want it, but you have to live by the fact that he will always exist in the back of your mind. He will always remind you of the late nights and the city lights. He will always remind you of morning alarms, and you will always be thrilled by the doorbell's sound because deep inside, you want to see him standing once you open the door.
You will never forget someone who was never yours.
