Ruby was 14 now and she and Bill had just finished another hunt. Ruby was excited she had picked up Tommy a birthday present. He would be 18 by the time she got back.

Ruby looked down at the CD she bought, it was AC/DC Tommy loved the band. She was excited to give it to him, her and Bill had just hit town. Ruby held the CD close as she walked into town.

"You look happy," Bill said smiling.

"He's going to love his present," Ruby said nearly skipping as they headed to Tommy's house.

Before Bill could say more him and Ruby saw a crowd and police in the road. Ruby got closer and her heart stopped, that was Tommy's car. Bill saw this too and looked at the horror on Ruby's face.

"No..." Ruby said softly walking closer.

"Ruby, stay calm," Bill said calmly.

An officer stopped Ruby "miss you need to stay back, there was an accident."

"Tommy... that's Tommy's car," Ruby said, staring at the wrecked car in anguish.

"Miss I'm sorry, He didn't make it," the officer said sadly to Ruby.

Bill looked at Ruby in worry as she fell to her knees. Ruby let out a scream as she felt the world crumble around her. The man she loved, the man she spent her life beside, her Best friend Tommy was gone.

Bill tried to talk to Ruby but she heard nothing, as tears fell down her face. She felt empty and lost, she looked at the gift she got him and held it to her chest. In that moment Ruby wanted to die, but the problem was, she didn't know how to.

Ruby stood up wiping her tears "I won't cry until I see you again Tommy." Ruby said softly.

"Ruby?" Bill said with concern.

Ruby walked away from the crash "I need a hunt"

"Ruby you need time to grieve, you just lost someone you love," Bill said worriedly.

"Bill I need a goddam hunt," Ruby said looking at Bill her face twisted in pain and Anguish.

Bill knew he had no right to tell Ruby how to deal with this heartbreak "there's something in California I heard of." He said reluctantly.

"Let's go, im not coming back to this fucking town ever again," Ruby said walking towards the nearest car.

Ruby walked into the Asylum despite Bill's protests to do research first. Bill knew Ruby was grieving so she wasn't listening to reason. She was also more reckless than anything else.

Ruby didn't have any weapons but her iron knife as she walked through the asylum. She knew next to nothing about this hunt. Just the asylum was haunted and people were dying, that was enough for her.

Ruby and Bill didn't realize that they were about to have help on this case. As a Black Impala pulled up to the Asylum. Sam and Dean stepped out of it and looked at the other car, a beat-up gray Toyota.

"Shit, some amateur is inside Sammy," Dean said angrily.

"Let's go before they get themselves killed," Sam said looking at the Asylum.

Ruby saw ghosts everywhere, whatever happened in this Asylum was bad. She couldn't see the Violent ghost yet but it wasn't nighttime yet. Ruby had 20 minutes until the true danger began, and she hoped this would kill her.

"Ruby, please be careful, this could be extremely dangerous," Bill said with worry.

"Relax Bill, I'm hard to kill," Ruby said with a smirk.

Bill wasn't sure if he liked this sudden change in Ruby. He saw this type of behavior in John, the look in her eyes as if she had nothing left to lose. Bill was scared of losing Ruby to her own recklessness.

Only minutes later Ruby got grabbed from behind and pulled into a different room. Two men looked at her and she knew deep inside who they were. Sam and Dean, her brothers, Dean looked at her angrily but his gaze softened when he noticed she was just a child.

"Kid, why are you in here? It's dangerous." Dean said with concern.

Ruby was terrified, what if Sam and Dean tried to hurt her like John did? She was a monster, after all, even though John was dead his threats rang through her head. With a fearful face, Sam Stepped in.

"Dean you're scaring her, im sorry about my brother, Listen it's dangerous in here we should get you out," Sam said to Ruby calmly.

"No, I have to stay, I took a dare," Ruby said acting like the kid she was.

"Stupid kids" Dean grumbled "come on kid, im not letting you get hurt in here"

Before Dean could act it was dark and the ghosts that Ruby was seeing became completely visible to everyone. Dean cursed and pulled out his shotgun. Sam did the same both standing in front of Ruby.

"Kid stay behind us, we will protect you," Dean said, cocking his shotgun.

"I think after this you should go with them Ruby, they are your brothers they can take care of you," Bill said, noticing that Sam and Dean were Protecting Ruby.

There were four violent ghosts, and Sam and Dean were able to keep them at bay. However, their ammo would soon run out. Ruby wasn't going to just do nothing when she could take care of herself.

Sam ran out of ammo first, the ghost charged at the opening he had. Ruby quickly jumped in front of Sam and stabbed the ghost with her iron knife. The ghost let out a scream and vanished.

"Fuck off you dead asshats!" Ruby yelled angrily.

"Kid, how did you do that?" Sam asked, surprised.

"Iron, a girl's best friend," Ruby said with a smirk "don't worry boys, I'm a hunter too"

"What! You're a kid!" Dean said angrily.

"Like that has ever stopped me," Ruby said taking an opening and dashing out of the room.

"Dammit, Sammy let's go," Dean said chasing Ruby.

Ruby ran passed all the ghosts, she heard them all talking. She knew where to go, the basement. With Sam and Dean on her tail, she ran quickly.

She reached the basement when Dean grabbed her arm "kid what the hell!"

"The bodies, those four were killed down here, their bodies were never found. But I know where they are" Ruby said quickly, taking her arm out of Dean's hand.

"Fine, show us. We will kill these ghosts then you are going to answer our questions." Dean said reluctantly.

Ruby just nodded and walked forward using the words and clues she heard before pointing at the old water tank. Sam pushed the tank over and four bloated bodies spilled out. All three of them looked disgusted.

"Ew. Ew. Ew." Ruby said, looking away and trying not to puke.

"Aw that's not pretty," Dean said as he and Sam began to pour oil on the bodies.

Sam and Dean set fire to the bodies and the ghosts burned up. Dean turned to talk to Ruby but he saw her dashing up the stairs. He tried to chase her but she was already long gone in her stolen car.

"Dammit Sammy, who the fuck was that! She's just a kid out there alone." Dean said angrily, but mostly concerned.

"Never got her name, but she was good, there is no way she's new to this," Sam said wondering what drove her to hunt.

Ruby was speeding away with a smile on her face "I don't think I can leave those two alone now Bill."

"I wish you stayed with them, Ruby," Bill said disappointed Ruby ran.

"Better if I keep my distance, but I'll be watching them. Someone needs to have their back." Ruby said smiling, she finally met her brothers.

Bill frowned but supposed it was better than being completely alone. He really did want Ruby to live happily with her family. However he couldn't give up hope, she still had a chance they would find out who she was.
