Ruby Winchester

Chapter Nineteen

Ruby was pacing angrily, Sam and Dean left her before she even woke up. They went on a hunt and left her a fucking note. The note told her to stay with Bobby and live a normal safe life.

"You're gonna burn a hole in my floor girl," Bobby said watching her.

"I'm going to kill them!" She exclaimed turning to Bobby.

"They want you to be a normal kid," Bobby said defending her brothers.

"They don't get to make that choice for me! Hunting is all I know! I never went to school, all I know is how to hunt!" Ruby exclaimed angrily.

"But you're still a kid," Bobby said opening a book.

"I've never been a kid. I'm a hunter, I kill evil and save people. I will never stop because it's all I know." Ruby said, grabbing her jacket.

"What are you doing?" Bobby asked.

"Hunting, if they want to leave me behind I'll find my own cases," Ruby said leaving the house.

Bobby just smiled "She really is a Winchester."

Ruby opened the folder she stole from the Police station. She wouldn't tell her brothers about her uncanny ability to break into secure buildings. She flipped through the file with a smirk, this was definitely an interesting Case.

"Hospital patients going missing, then killing their families. What could you be?" Ruby mused as she tossed the file onto her bed.

Ruby had gotten used to talking out loud because of Bill. With Bill gone, she felt lonely, but wouldn't let it bother her. Just because she couldn't talk to someone doesn't mean she couldn't do her job.

"Well as Bill always taught me, check the victims and locations for clues," Ruby said grabbing her keys.

Ruby left the motel room, driving towards the hospital. She parked and then stabbed herself in the stomach. She would worry about her blood color later, right now she needed a way to freely roam the hospital.

Ruby stumbled into the ER, holding the knife in between the fingers of her hand. Nurses and Doctors rushed towards her putting her on a gurney and wheeling her away. The real fun happened when they saw her blood color and healing speed, just like that Ruby became a medical mystery that the hospital wouldn't let her leave.

Ruby was walking around the hospital, she was allowed to wear her own clothes. She already had escape routes planned, she was looking for information on the missing patients. Ruby saw a little girl in her room alone and walked inside.

"Hey there, you looked lonely," Ruby said walking in.

"My mom is working today," the little girl said sadly.

"I can hang out with you then," Ruby said with a smile.

"What's your name?" The girl asked.

"Ruby, what's yours, hun?" Ruby asked with a soft smile.

"Lilly," the girl said, smiling.

Ruby sat in the chair by the bed "Why are you here Lilly?" Ruby asked softly.

"I have a bad heart, doctors are trying to fix it." She said sadly.

"Well, I bet you'll be just fine kiddo," Ruby said with a smile.

"Look at that! Told you purple would look good on you!" Ruby exclaimed with a smile, she had just painted Lilly's nails.

"I love it so much!" Lilly said with a smile.

Ruby laughed a bit, it had been two days, and during the day she spent time with Lilly, at night she searched the hospital. Ruby had an idea what was going on, something was eating terminally ill patients. Ruby was starting to think it was Ghouls.

Ruby heard a scream from outside the room, "Lilly sweetie, stay here I'm going to check that out." Ruby said getting up.

"You shouldn't leave when they scream, that's how people disappear!" Lilly yelled terrified.

"Lilly, I won't disappear, I'll be right back," Ruby said, opening the room door.

Ruby blinked seeing about 20 ghouls attacking and eating people. She closed the door immediately and turned to Lilly. Ruby pulled out her phone and dialed Bobby's number.

"Hello?" Bobby answered.

"It's me, I have a question," Ruby said into the phone.

"Your brothers are back, ask quickly so they don't know I let you hunt," Bobby said.

"Over 20 ghouls eating everyone in a hospital, that's not normal right?" Ruby asked quietly.

"The hell did you get yourself into girl!?" Bobby exclaimed into the phone.

"Not normal thought so. Ok, I don't have my gun and I have an 8-year-old girl with a heart defect to protect. This will be fun" Ruby said before hanging up.

"Ruby?" Lilly asked, scared.

"It's going to be fine, just stay right there Lilly," Ruby said as she broke a chair leg.

"What's going on?" Lilly asked.

"Some people outside took some bad medicine, I'm going to stop them from coming in to hurt you," Ruby said calmly.

"Don't get hurt, Ruby," Lilly said softly.

"I'm tough Sweetie, they can't hurt me," Ruby said holding the chair leg.

Ruby opened the door and stepped out armed with only a chair leg. This was going to be a long fight. Nothing was going to hurt Lilly and Ruby was going to make sure of that.

Ruby dropped the chair leg and stepped over the bodies, "This was a fucking shit show"

Ruby opened the door and walked into Lilly's room. Ruby smiled at Lilly showing she wasn't hurt. Lilly smiled back before going into a heart attack.

"Lilly!" Ruby screamed running over and starting chest compressions.

A reaper appeared "Ruby, why am I not surprised you are here" the reaper said angrily.

"You're not taking Lilly!" Ruby yelled while still doing compressions.

"It's her time Winchester." The reaper said angrily.

"Give me her heart condition," Ruby said seriously.

"What?" The reaper asked, confused.

"I know you can do it, fix her, give it to me. I know you all want to kill me, this might" Ruby said with a serious look.

The reaper smiled and did as Ruby asked. Ruby clutched her chest in pain and the reaper thought the pain in their ass would finally die. However Ruby healed and Ruby and Lilly were both healthy, The reaper left pissed.

Ruby picked Lilly up, "You're gonna be just fine Sweetie." She said carrying the child out of the hospital.

Ruby pulled into Bobby's place and Dean came out looking pissed. Ruby took her helmet off and got off her bike. Dean walked over towards her angrily.

"Ruby! I told you to stay here!" He yelled grabbing her, he then checked her for injuries.

"I don't really do as I'm told," Ruby said with a bit of confusion.

"Come back from a hunt to hear that you took off on a road trip. Do you know how worried I was!" Dean exclaimed, hugging Ruby.

"You're the one that left me behind," Ruby said, hugging Dean back.

"To be safe, to be a kid. Damn it Ruby I don't want you to live like me and Sam." Dean said with concern "You're my little sister, it's my job to protect you."

"I don't need to be protected, I take care of myself just fine," Ruby said with a smirk.

"I don't care, I'm still going to protect you," Dean said leading Ruby inside, he had no idea Ruby had just completed a hunt.
