Ruby Winchester

Chapter 23

Ruby found herself standing in a dark room illuminated only by candles. There were strange symbols all over the room and a skeleton on the floor. Latin was being chanted as Ruby saw the Skeleton beginning to get covered in nerves and muscle, after a few moments the Skeleton stood up as a naked woman.

"Oh fuck... Mom?" Ruby asked in confusion and fear.

A red-haired woman smirked at Ruby "My dear, I would be so happy if this wasn't a dream"

"Leave me alone you crazy bitch" Ruby said, taking a step back.

"Is that how you treat your mother? Did John raise you this way?" She asked putting on a dress.

"John didn't fucking raise me, he left me and then tried to kill me last time we met!" Ruby yelled in anger.

"So, you were raised without a parent's love?" She asked walking closer to her Daughter.

"I didn't need a parent! I had Bill, and I have my brothers!" Ruby yelled, stepping away from her mother.

"Oh my Daughter, I'll show you a mother's love. Lucifer will show you a father's love, I'll find you soon my dear" she said before Ruby woke up.

"So you had a dream about your evil mom?" Sam asked, confused.

Ruby sighed, she told her brothers because something about that dream didn't feel right. It was similar to the ones she used to have about her brothers before she controlled it. However, Sam was looking at her like she was crazy, and Dean just had a neutral look.

"Not just evil, she's a witch, I know she died years ago. John killed her, but you both have died too" Ruby said, trying to get them to take her seriously.

"It's not that we don't believe you" Sam started to say.

"It's that, it's crazy, come on Ruby, it's probably just the angels messing with your head," Dean said with a sigh.

Ruby decided to give up convincing her brothers. "You're probably right," Ruby said reluctantly.

"Listen Ruby it's only been a week since we found out Tommy is alive, why don't you join us on this job, stop hiding in the motel room," Sam said to Ruby.

"I thought you guys didn't want me out there?" Ruby asked, confused.

"Ruby, I would rather have you hunting with us and safe than hunting alone or going crazy in a room." Dean said standing up "Besides, it's a ghost, we could use you"

"I'll come along then, I do need to get out," Ruby said realizing that she was acting like a moody teenager.

Sam and Dean were loading up their shotguns in front of the house. Ruby was holstering her knife to her hip. Sam handed Ruby an extra shotgun.

"Ever think about making a grenade out of salt?" Ruby asked taking the gun.

Dean looked at Ruby surprised "That sounds so fucking awesome!"

"She did put holy water in a squirt gun," Sam said with a chuckle.

Ruby smiled as they headed into the house. She was happy Dean stopped treating her like a kid, well mostly. He did state she was to stay with them in the Impala until further notice, her Motorcycle parked at Bobby's.

"Five ghosts so far, don't know who is violent '' Ruby said as they walked through the house.

"You seeing ghosts is still creepy," Dean said from in front of Ruby.

"But helpful," Sam said from behind her, they had her in the middle so they could protect her.

"Dean!" Ruby yelled right before a ghost came forward and attacked.

Dean was quick enough and shot the ghost, "Nice warning" Dean said with a nod to Ruby.

"Sam!" Ruby called out as another ghost attacked.

Sam shot it "two violent then?" Sam asked.

Before Ruby could respond she felt herself get pulled through the door behind her. She let out a yelp and the door slammed shut after she got pulled in. Sam and Dean began trying to get into the room, banging and pounding on the door.

The ghost that pulled Ruby vanished, Ruby turned around and saw her mother. "STAY AWAY!" She yelled in fear.

"RUBY!" Dean yelled from the other side of the door, now throwing his body into it.

"Now now, it's been so long my dear, come give your mother a hug," her mother said walking closer.

"You're not my mother! You're just some bitch named Katherine!" Ruby yelled as her back hit the wall.

"I'll need to teach you some manners," Katherine said as she grabbed Ruby's arm.

Ruby was like a terrified child again "DEAN!" she cried out in fear.

Katherine began chanting in Latin as the door burst open. Dean saw Ruby and Katherine and he shot at Katherine. Since it was salt rounds it didn't do much to the witch.

"I see where she gets her manners from," Katherine said, letting go of Ruby.

Ruby's face was blank, her eyes were a dull gray. Ruby was being controlled by her mother now. Katherine smirked and ran her hand through her daughter's hair.

"Dean, she did something to Ruby," Sam said, upset.

Dean pulled out his pistol and pointed it at Katherine "What have you done to my sister bitch!"

"I can do what I want to my daughter," Katherine said kissing Ruby on the head.

Sam and Dean looked at each other in guilt, "You really are back from the dead?" Sam asked.

"Lucifer wants my daughter on his side, so I was happy to oblige." Katherine said with a smirk "I can't hurt you two unfortunately, but if you get in my way, I will make you watch as I skin Ruby alive"

Dean lowered his gun reluctantly. "Ruby, if you're in there, fight. We will find you, so you fight."

Katherine and Ruby left without issue and disappeared. Dean punched the wall in frustration, Ruby had tried to warn them. Sam and Dean left, they had to get Bobby's help and start looking for Ruby.
