"Everyone, let's give our best. Get to work. The nation counts on us. Don't forget that." Lee know spoke up
"Did you look out for any candles or sin written at the scene?" Donghyuck asked.
"Yea. We found a candle 2m away from the body. The sin was lust." Lee know answered.
Donghyuck turned his head to look at Jaehyun who was deep in thoughts.
Time skip
It was lunch time. Every one went out to fill their grumbling stomachs. Donghyuck was about to head out when he saw Jaehyun. "Jae, are you free now?" Donghyuck asked.
"Yeah i guess. Why?" Jaehyun asked wavered.
"Let's go to the cafe nearby"
They entered the cafe to be met with strong smell of caffeine and croissants. The cafe was almost packed up with people in their 20s to to couples and families. They took a seat further from the crowd at a corner with a window which showcased the bustling city.
"This cafe is a self service one. I'll go make the order. You can stay here." Donghyuck said and went towards the counter.
"Two iced Americano please."
"Okay. Wait we've met before. Aren't you donghyuck?" The woman behind the counter asked.
"I'm donghyuck. Ah yes I remember meeting you although i forgot your name." Donghyuck smiled sheepishly.
"That happens. My name is karina. Here's your order, enjoy."
"Thankyou"donghyuck smiled.
After paying he returned to their seat. Placing the iced Americano down he sat in front of Jaehyun.
"Here's your americano" donghyuck slided the cup towards Jaehyun.
"Thankyou"
"Jae, I'm not going to beat around the bush. I'll ask up straight. What is the connection between you and the girl who recently died?" Donghyuck asked
"Well. It's a past that I don't like to speak about." Jaehyun contemplated whether he should talk about it.
Donghyuck raised one of his brow indicating him to go further.
"She was my ex. We dated 5 years during college." Jaheyun hesitated to speak more. Hearing no comments from donghyuck he continued.
"She was so sweet and bubbly. A personality that everyone liked. She was very popular among the girls too. But then one day suddenly she came up to me asking for a break up. She said she didn't had feelings for me anymore. I didn't agree at first but gradually i did because i had to respect her choice. She became a drug addict and alcoholic. That was totally not her. She even became a prostitute. I wracked my brain to find a reason for her ending up like that." Jaehyun sighed.
"She had any family problems?" Donghyuck asked.
"She was very sensitive when we talked about her parents so i always tried my best not to bring it up. All i know is that none of them are in best terms. They always had some fights going on."
Donghyuck nodded his head in acknowledgement. "Thanks for clearing this up.we was worried due to your weird behaviour. Hyejin even thought you was involved in the murder."
"Me involved in the murder? Are you guys for real?" Jaehyun asked wide eyes.
Donghyuck shrugged in response.
"Even though she left me that time, i knew she had her reason. I never hated her for that." Jaehyun said
"Oh. Thankyou for saying. I know it was hard. Now that everything's cleared up. Lets head back." Donghyuck got up from his chair heading towards the door with Jaehyun trailing behind.
Back at the station
Hyejin was looking at Jaehyun, her mind elsewhere.
"It's not him" donghyuck spoke from beside her
"Huh?" She turned her head to look at him.
"Jaehyun is not involved in the murder." Donghyuck clarified
"How can you be so sure.?" Hyejin quirked one brow.
"I talked about it to him. She was his ex. It was natural to be in that state."
"Oh." She turned her head to look at Jaehyun who was dozing off. She studied his features. The dark circles under his eyes and the pouty lips when he's sleepy.
'He must be having a hard time' hyejin thought to herself.
She turned her attention back to her computer screen that was lighted up with multiple documents. Sighing, she started typing away to complete her reports.
