Ch~27

Black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch.

At the office

Hyejin was in a daze. Mind fuzzy, her thoughts jumbled all over. She was brought back when Mr Lee knocked on his door to gain everyones attention.

"Did you find anything regarding the case? Not that I'm investigating but I'm just curious." He cleared his throat looking away.

They could care less about the fact they was suspended. It's been a nightmare they've been investigating all these years to just leave it behind. They was restless to find the culprit who made all their lives turn upside down.

Donghyuck entered the office at that time. Noticing the awkward and thick tension, he decided to break it off.
"I've found something." He came forward.

At that everyone perked their heads towards him expecting a elaborate explainaion.

"I went to her house and also asked some questions to the neighbors. The victim always went out on sundays. I mean usually it's the day off." Donghyuck spoke up.

Mr lee tilted his head indicating to continue.

Donghyuck carried on "Every Sunday's he used to go out early Morning and would return at midnight. He doesn't have any family. They all died in an accident 8 years ago."

"Well and your conclusion?" Mr Lee raised his brows.

"I searched his car for any clues and found this." Donghyuck took out a small leather bag. Opening the bag, there was a large black velvety robe which had red lining at the ends.

"This looks creepy"sunghoon spoke not taking his eyes off the robe.

"Is it some sort of cult?" Jaehyun asked.

"That's what i guess but we'll have to look for more." Donghyuck replied.

"Did you check his dashcams?" Hyejin questioned.

"I did. The car was at home on every sundays. That's what confuses me. How did he get to the place then?. The neighbor said he went out with his car." Donghyuck sighed.

"Maybe he had another car." Jaehyun shrugged.

"Not that i know of" donghyuck's brows creased in confusion

"Wait. He have a car porch but he never parks his car in it. The dashcams doesn't show it." Donghyuck looked up at Mr Lee.

"Well let's search up his porch then."

They all arrived at the place as said. Donghyuck walked up towards the porch " it's locked." He said looking back at Mr Lee who was walking towards him.

"It'll only open with a passcode." Donghyuck spoke pinching his nose bridge in frustration.

"Well this porch is automatic. Once the car comes near, it scans and automatically opens up the door. I've seen porches like this. The victim must be filthy rich" Sunghoon said.

"So he definitely has another car. We'll have to break it then." Mr Lee spoke up.

After breaking the password the door of the porch opened to reveal a dark and rusty place. Donghyuck switched on the lights to find it empty.

Bewildered, he turned around to look at Mr Lee who was equally as confused.

They looked around the place for some more time hoping to find anything. Hyejin happened to come over a small blue button that seemed out of place. She crouched down, brows furrowing

"Well doesn't this look suspicious?" She asked looking behind her to find Jaehyun. Seeing him she turned her head back hastily, not wanting to talk to him after the small fight that occurred yesterday.

Jaehyun came over and crouched down to her level. It seemed like the fight was long forgotten by him and that made Hyejin angry. she got up abruptly moving away calling donghyuck to tell about the button.

Jaehyun clearly saw what she was doing. He was dissappointed in himself. After all it was his mistake. He should talk to her about it but now wasn't the time. So he just let it slide.

Donghyuck came near Jaehyun to observe it. Mindlessly tapping the blue button. Jaehyun's eyes widened.
"Yah. What if it's a bomb or something. Omg you-" Jaehyun stopped in mid sentence at the loud noise. Turning his head back to look at a large hole that was opening in the middle of the porch.

They all walked towards the hole which opened to a basement. More like a dark and creepy dungeon. They looked at each other wide eyed, dreading as to what they're going to find there might not be pleasing.
