Kai POV
Kai: *gasp*
I sat bolt upright
Pyra: Kai!
She hugged me, clearly she was worried.
Kai: I’m alright Pyra. I’m—
I was cut off as a wave of pain crashed over me. All of the hits I took in my head, had appeared in real life.
Kai: Oh shit that stings…
Pyra: How are you hurt? You were sleeping, and something was wrong, and injuries just started appearing on your body, and there was—
Her voice broke
Pyra: N-nothing I c-could do…
Tears were streaming down her face.
Kai: [Heal]
I restored my vitality, and then gently pulled Pyra into a comforting hug.
Kai: Sorry Pyra… I didn’t mean to scare you.
She sniffled and nuzzled into me.
Pyra: I-I felt s-so… helpless…
I began to stroke her hair, trying to calm her down.
Kai: I’m sorry Pyra… I really didn’t mean for this to happen…
I looked down at her, my eyes meeting her fiery amber orbs.
Kai: But I do have good news!
Pyra: *sniff* What?
Kai: Darkseid’s gone! I-I uh… yeah…
Pyra: That’s good…
Kai: You sound less than enthused.
Pyra: It’s just, you scared me so bad… I couldn’t help you at all! I had no medical supplies, and no healing Arts! If you had been mortally wounded… I would’ve lost you…
She seemed tormented, like the thought of losing me was something she couldn’t stand, because it happened before.
Pyra: I-I can’t lose someone I care about… not again…
Her gaze never wavered, our eyes remained firmly locked on each other, and I wanted nothing more than to kiss her. To feel her against me as I finally told her that I loved her. But I couldn’t. The words wouldn’t come out. So instead, I just tightened my grip, holding her closer.
Kai: *softly* You aren’t going to lose me Pyra. There is nothing that will get rid of me. You hear me? Nothing. I am not going away.
Pyra started sobbing softly.
Kai: *softly* Let it out Pyra… I’m here for you.
She was clinging to me, as if I was going to disappear.
Pyra: *sobbing quietly* P-P-Please… St-Stay…
Kai: *soft, reassuring* I will. I will.
I gently rubbed her back, feeling her tensed muscles loosen at my touch, as she relaxed against me, her sobs quieting until all that was audible were the soft sounds of her breathing. The warm air passing through the lips that I long to kiss.
Kai: It’s all gonna be okay…
She whimpered, and clung a little tighter.
Pyra: *quietly* I… I’m so sorry I’m like this…
I pressed my lips to the top of her head, hoping to comfort her with the small, but affectionate gesture.
Kai: *whispering* Don’t apologize. Never apologize, not for things out of your control.
