Kai POV
Pyra had settled against my side again. Not that I'm complaining. I wouldn't ever complain about Pyra.
Kai: *teasingly* Comfy?
She mumbled an incoherent defense.
Kai: Are you okay?
Another quiet mumble.
Kai: *softly* Did you not sleep well last night?
She shook her head, obviously tired.
Kai: *softly* Brace yourself.
I started pouring power into her, and her fiery amber eyes surged to life.
Pyra: *slightly woozy* Thank you….
Kai: That should be enough until we make it to Indol. Can you hold out till then?
Pyra: I… I should be okay. Just… watch my back.
I nodded.
Kai: Always.
We continued on our way, finally approaching the docks until someone familiar appeared… again.
Zeke: Finally. You took your sweet time.
Kai: Oh for fuck's sake.
Mòrag: ...You're the...
Nia: Hey, Shellhead!
Zeke: Hey.
Rex: You just don't give up, do you? C'mon, out of the way.
Tora: More like stubborn leech than turtle.
I snickered.
Zeke: Hah. This time I'm here for something a little bit different.
Rex: Ugh, what's that supposed to mean?
Zeke: I want to see just how good you are, chum. I've been waiting here for three whole days already!
I was dumbfounded. Three days? For the love of all things Holy.
Nia: Three days? Seriously? You know what, no thanks, I don't pick on idiots.
Zeke: Well then. Fight me and we'll see who's the idiot!
Rex: How did you know that we'd be here...?
Zeke: I'll tell you...if you can beat me! You want to join the fun too?
Mòrag: No, you all go ahead.
Wait. What? Mòrag was willing to relentlessly attack a kid, but was backing down from this guy?
Kai: What the fuck?
Rex: Huh? Why?
Zeke: What a shame! Looks like the illustrious Flamebringer won't be helping you this time.
Nia: Thanks for the concern and all, but maybe you should be worrying about yourself. Big tree to your right, big rock to your left, and a cliff right behind you. Which one's gonna get you this time, eh?
Zeke: Not today, Furry Ears. Check this.
He tensed up. I yawned. In a bolt of lightning, everyone flew into the air and fell back down.
Kai: That's what I'm talking about.
Rex: Whoa!
Nia: What the-
Zeke: Well? Feel like taking me seriously yet, hmm?
Tora: S-so strong...
