Kai POV

I woke up.

Kai: Who am I? Where am I? Why the FUCK am I falling from the sky, into another sky?!

I continued to fall, then I splashed down  into the clouds

Kai: I don't think clouds are supposed to feel like water...

I surfaced, and saw a boy in blue haul a crate up onto... a rock dragon's back?!

 a rock dragon's back?!

Kai: OK. Never seen that before, wait, how do I know that?! Forget it, oh wait, I probably did. Stop with the jokes Kai!! Figure out who this boy is and why I feel like I have to follow, protect, and help him and his companions before being a wise guy! Wait, my name is Kai?! Cool.

Rex: *sigh* We really do need to buy ourselves a new depth probe… The ping was off by 150 peds to the east! That is not gonna fly!

Azurda: What about the treasure, Rex?Was it in line with your expectations?

Kai: The rock dragon speaks?! Oh shit, go invisible!

I quickly turned myself invisible, though I don't know who I copied it from

Kai: Copy? Oh yeah, that's my ability!

Rex: It seemed pretty solid. Didn’t even have to reinforce it too much. Even with the labor costs we should be able to turn a decent profit.

Azurda: Honestly, it takes you two days to run the structural analysis… Yet somehow you can gauge the profits in an instant?

Rex: Don’t go rainin’ on my parade, Gramps. You know I’m in the salvaging trade for the cash. A little business sense goes a long way, all right?

The boy, I now know as Rex, managed to get the crate open, and a... crustacean-ish thing rushed out.

Rex: Whoa!
I didn’t expect THAT! You been living in this thing, big guy?

Azurda: Rex!

Rex: No worries, Gramps! I think we know what’s for lunch!

Rex began to fight it with a sword made out of scrap metal, and I was pretty impressed, he did well against it, it wasn't necessary for me to intervene, for I somehow knew, that I should only intervene when absolutely necessary, if I wanted to be closer to the group, I would have to stay invisible, but if I was a looser follow, then I could let the cloak spell down. But I felt like I wanted to stick with them.  By now, Rex had beaten the crabby thingy and was cooking it on a brazier.

Rex [Narration]: An entire horizon of white. A sea of clouds, and at its heart, the World Tree, piercing the heavens…
This… This is the world we call home, Alrest. Story goes that when the world was young… Everyone in Alrest lived on the Tree, together with our divine father, the Architect. According to the tales, it was a bountiful land. And the people there held the power to command even the heavens themselves.  They called that paradise…
“Elysium”. But then, one day…  We were cast out. Nobody knows why.
Perhaps we angered our creator, or perhaps it was something else entirely… All we know is, we were forced to leave Elysium to live here in Alrest. Where, it turns out, life was pretty hard. But, when it seemed like we would surely die out, the Architect… took pity on us… sending his servants, the Titans, to save us. The few of us who survived settled on the Titans…
And we’ve lived in harmony with them ever since. But now, those Titans *sigh*...  are beginning to die out.

Kai: Was he just, talking to himself about this world's history? Or does he know I'm here?

Azurda: A-ah… The brazier does my weary old bones much good…

Rex: Want me to move it, Gramps?

Azurda: No, that’s quite all right. Leave it right there - a-ah…

Rex: Righto!

Another large, rocky being surged out of the clouds, then fell, dissolving into particles of light.

Kai: The hell was that?!

Rex: Not another one… Been happenin’ a lot lately…

Azurda: Mm… More so than before.

Rex: I wonder if anyone was living there…

Azurda: It seems not. And if there had been, they would have all left by now.

Rex: Makes sense… Hey Gramps, d’you think… Fonsett Village will be gone too one day?

Azurda: It would not be today or tomorrow, but one day, yes, it will fall.

Rex: And you, too?

Azurda: That’s how it goes with us Titans… There’s no way around it.

Rex: Eventually… There’ll be nowhere left to live.

Azurda: Sadly…

Rex: So… You Titans were born up there, is that right?

Kai: Titans? So that's what these things are called?

Azurda: So they say, for what it’s worth.
Mind you, I was born here, on Alrest.
As for my ancestors, who could say where they were born…

Rex: Can it really exist? This Elysium?
And the creator who’s said to live there…

Azurda: A land of plenty, atop the World Tree… If such a place did exist, perhaps we could all live in peace.
With no need for fighting.

Rex: Sure would be great…
For everyone… even folks in Fonsett.
If the divine Architect can see us now, I wonder what he thinks…

Rex gave a solemn pause, then jumped up

Rex: All right! Back to making money!
I think this haul should be enough for today. Oi, Gramps! Care for a little swim to the Argentum Trade Guild?

Azurda: You’re planning on selling it now? It’s getting toward my bedtime...

Rex: Don’t play the lazy old man with me. There’s plenty of sunshine left!

Azurda: Kids these days… No respect, I swear…

I on the other hand, just quietly chuckled.

Aight, so Chapter One of Book 2 be bussin. Or at least, I think so, I hope it's at least semi accurate on dialog, it'll deviate more later though. See ya!
