Pyra POV

I woke up, warm, and relatively refreshed.

Pyra: Why am I so warm?

I shifted slightly, then I became hyperaware of the feeling of a person spooning me.

Pyra: Why is there someone in bed with me!? Did I-?

There a soft grumbling noise. One I recognized as Kai.

Pyra: I must have asked him to stay because I was cold...

I couldn't say I didn't like the feeling of being held like this, but I began to wonder when Kai would wake up. I'm actually suprised he fell asleep.

Pyra: So... Nice...

I felt myself falling asleep again, so to distract myself I carefully rolled over to face Kai without waking him up.

Pyra: He always seems so peaceful as he sleeps... I wish that my dreams were as calm as his must be.

As I watched, I felt my face starting to heat up.

Pyra: And he's... Handsome... Wait. Why did I..? I know I contemplated it before but do I really..?

I ignored the thought and gently nuzzled into his chest, sighing as his warmth and scent washed over me, reinforcing my early-morning drowsiness.

Pyra: Oh Father, if you can hear me... Don't let Kai get hurt... Especially because... Because... I think... I think I love him...

Unbidden, my eyes sank closed, and I fell asleep once more.

Kai POV

Kai: Another day, another dissapointing mor-

I notice that Pyra is asleep, snuggling me.

Kai: Nevermind, not a disapointing morning at all.

I look out the window.

Kai: From here it looks like early morning. This means the party leaves soon for the job.

I sighed. I was gonna hate this.

Kai: *softly* Pyra, wake up.

She mumbled incoherently, but she did seem to be regaining consciousness.

Pyra: Kai?

Kai: It's me.

She blinked, and wiped the sleep out of her eyes.

Pyra: Why'd you wake me? Is something wrong?

Kai: It's morning, Vandham and the others are going out for that job soon. And I didn't want to wake you. You look adorable while you sleep.

Pyra went as red as her hair.

Kai: C'mon, we can't be left behind.

Pyra: R-right.

I grabbed my sword from the corner I put it in last night, and left the room with Pyra.

Nia: Wha?

When we left the room, we came face-to-face with Nia, who looked dumbstruck.

Kai: Haha funny moment time.

Pyra: Nia! What are you doing here?

Nia: I-I was coming to get you up, we couldn't find Kai earlier and so I assumed he went off somewhere. But you hadn't come out of your room, so I came to get you so you didn't get left behind...

Pyra went red. And I coughed mentally because I knew what was next.

Nia: I didn't realize that you were still in your room because you had a busy night...

I said nothing. However Pyra started stuttering.

Pyra: W-what? N-no! I-it's not l-like that...

Nia looked quizzical.

Kai: It's true. She had asked me to stay with her because she was cold. So I did.

Nia: If you say so.

Kai: I do. Because with how things have gone for me so far, I'll never be that lucky.

Nia laughed, and Pyra blushed harder, though now she looked kind of sad.

Kai: Was it something I said?

I shook that off and wrapped an arm around Pyra to help her with warmth.

Pyra: T-thank you Kai.

Kai: No problem.

Then we walked out of the inn and into the sunrise.

Okay! So this one is super short, and it was supposed to ve longer, but I haven't updated in for fuckin ever so I thought I might as well give you guys what I have if you're even paying attention to the garbage I write still. Again, my favorite line, school's a bitch. Hava nice day guys.
