Kai POV

I woke up with my head in Pyra's lap.

Kai: How long was I..?

Pyra: Long enough that I think you'll be fine till our next stop.

I just noticed that she was playing with my hair. It actually felt kind of... nice, that coupled with the softness of her thighs I was pretty comfortable right now.

Kai: Mmm...

My eyes sank closed again

Kai: So... Comfy...

Pyra blushed furiously

Pyra: Y-you d-do have to get up. The others are getting impatient.

I grumbled.

Kai: I like myself right where I am thank you very much. Ain't nobody gonna get me to move right away.

She blushed harder and shyly looked away from me. I waited a little longer before getting up. Pyra stood up as well.

Kai: Ok, now for my hair.

I quickly crafted the thing for my hair. Then slammed it onto my head, there was a bright flash, and my hair was back to normal.

Pyra: How do you do that?

Kai: I'm not really sure, I think I learned it from a friend though. It's too hard to tell...

Pyra's expression softened

Pyra: I'm... so sorry, I...

Kai: Heh, it's fine. I can't expect you to always remember that I can't remember. Or that it hurts when I try.

Pyra: It hurts when you try to remember your past?

She seemed really concerned.

Kai: Yeah... gives me a massive headache.

She hugged me gently, surprising me.

Kai: Huh?

She didn't respond, just nuzzled against my chest. I looked down at the crimson haired beauty, and sighe softly, wrapping my arms around her to return the hug.

Pyra POV

Pyra: Oh Architect he's hugging me back, and he's so warm... I don't understand... why do I like this so much? This warmth, this smell, this touch...

I pressed myself against him, and his arms tightened around me more, and a soft noise escaped my lips... a sound I don't think I've ever made before, though in response there was a quiet rumble I recognized as Kai's quiet chuckle. It was so nice, being wrapped up in his arms, I could almost forget what was happening... almost.

Rex: Oi! Are you two ready to go?

Rex came over the crest of the hill, now we were both in full view of him

Rex: Wha? Hey get away from her you disgusting little-

Rex had charged, my sword drawn.

Pyra: Wait, Rex!

In an instant, Kai had thrown me into the air and blocked Rex's attack

Pyra: Ahhh!

Kai: What the hell man?

Kai blocked several more strikes before knocking Rex back and catching me bridal-style.

Kai: Gotcha

He smiled at me. Something inside me fluttered.

Rex charged again. But a wall of blue hexagons appeared, then dissipated as Rex struck at it, knocking him backwards.

Kai: [Scintilla]

Pyra: Rex! Stop!

Rex: Stop? He was doing unspeakable things to you!

Kai: I would never hurt her!

The conviction in Kai's voice warmed me.

Pyra: Rex! He wasn't doing anything wrong!

Rex: He was! Wasn't he..?

Pyra: No, I was trying to comfort him after I brought up a touchy subject.

Rex: Oh... Oh Titans Foot I'm so sorry Kai.

Kai: All good. Not a scratch.

Rex: All right then! The others are ready, let's get going!

Kai/Pyra: Ok!

We caught up to the rest of the group, Kai had put an arm around me again and pulled me close, letting his warmth fill me and stay the uncomfortable cold.

Nia: There's some kinda dim light...

Azurda: If I remember, the Urayan Titan has a translucent hide... I bet that'll be the light filtering through.

Kai: Makes sense, wonder if that means...

Rex: So the Titan must be above the clouds now?

Azurda: I dare say!

Pyra: If we can make it to the source of the light, maybe we'll find a way out of here.

Someone came over the crest of another hill.

Vandham: Hold it!Looks like a bunch of mushes I ain't seen yet

Vandham: Hold it!
Looks like a bunch of mushes I ain't seen yet. You gotta have pretty damn bad luck, ending up in a Titan's guts like this. ...Huh? That Blade... An emerald Core Crystal! Bwahahahaha! So the rumors are true!

Kai: Son of a bitch

Rex: Huh? What rumors?

Vandham: The tale that every Driver worth his salt knows. The legendary Aegis. Folks been saying she just woke up from a 500 year nap. Wouldn't have thought she'd show up with a pencil-neck shrimp like you for a Driver, though.

Rex: You think I don't have what it takes?

Kai: Well... you kinda let your emotions get the best of you.

Vandham: Nah, I mean... Maybe you could handle a normal Blade.
But a greenhorn like you with a beaut like her? Don't kid yourself.
C'mon boy. Hand her over to a grown-up.

His comment set me on edge, I did not like old men commenting on my appearance. Kai's arm tightened around me slightly, offering reassurance.

Pyra: Kai won't let anyone hurt m- us

Rex: This crap is getting old.
Leave her alone!

Vandham: Y'got heart, kid. I like that. Yew, Zuo, you take care of the others. I wanna squash the kid.

Yew: Heheh. Leave it to us, boss.

Zuo: We'll take real good care of 'em.
