Chapter 7: The Boy's Life I

Where am I?

The moment I woke up, I was in a white room. To my right, I could see the night sky outside the window. The lights outside this room is shining magnificently and it is such a beautiful sight.

What am I doing in a place like this?

I heard footsteps to my left and when I turned around, I saw a woman along with a man who was wearing a white robe or something.

Is that... a doctor? He looks like one. I guess he really is a doctor...

But, who is the woman next to the doctor? Do I know her...?

She looked so mature...and so motherly... Is she my mom?

No, do I have a mom? Wait...

Who am I?

"Daisuke-chan? Oh thank goodness, you're awake."

Daisuke? Is that.. is that my name? It seems like it ... or else, she wouldn't call me that.... Daisuke... I have a nice name ...

Who.. is this woman then? Do.. am I supposed to know her? She.. knows my name yet.... I don't know her...

I tried to open my mouth but somehow I felt really weak. But, I tried my hardest to open it..

There's something that I wanted to know...

"Daisuke-chan-"

"Who... are you?"

Something seem to be wrong when the woman suddenly dropped something. It.. it sounded like papers.

Her eye looked fearful. She was on the verge of crying as well. Did I... did I do something wrong? What did I do?

I don't understand.

I felt very weak suddenly. Maybe I should sleep. Ah, but it would be rude if I sleep in front of those two just like that... but.. I..

I weakly glanced at the papers the woman dropped and one word seem to look more obvious than the other.

Adoption.

Was she.. was she trying to adopt me? How strange. I don't know who she is yet she wants to adopt me. How very strange.

Yet why do I feel warm?

I could no longer think of anything as darkness took over me.

Laughter.

In this dream of mine, I could hear laughter. Laughter and I saw two people. One looked so similiar as the woman and she was with a young boy. Is.. is that me? I don't know. Yet I have a feeling that the boy was me.
Fragile looking. He looked weak. The same thing that I am feeling. Yet I am standing here. It must be someone else...

But the two had smiles on their face as they laughed. Seeing this makes me feel warm. I..

I can't help but feel envious of them. Whoever that boy is, I wish it was me...

When I woke up once more, I was greeted by the doctor and the night sky was now a clear blue one.

Then I learned that I had amnesia. The doctor is unsure if it's a temporary or a permanent one but I had lost my memories when I fell in the river from a high place.

Weird. What was I doing at a place as dangerous as that in the first place?

But I guess this explains why I felt so lost. Why I don't remember anything. It's more like I can't.

I was about to ask the doctor about myself but that was when the woman entered my room once more.

She had a small smile on her face and her face felt like she had accepted something. Something that was far beyond what I could think of.
