Chapter 14: The Literature Club III

Ah. Yesterday was very eventful. I never had done so many activites like yesterday in a long time.

I'm surprised that I woke up early today. I was sure that I had spent a year worth of energy keeping up with her.

Thank God that today is Sunday. I can have all the day to myself! I'm going to relax all day long. Spend some time with my video games, watch some television shows and whatnot. Now, that is life.

That and I'm broke after yesterday so there is really no use if I were to go out today with Haru. Well even if I did, there's no way that I would go on a date with her again.

With that in mind, an image of her smile appeared in my mind. That smile was breathtaking. I was sure that her smile was as beautiful-

Wait, why am I thinking about her so early in the morning? Ah, great.

"Think of something else Kyouhei! Think of something else!"

When I tried to think of something else, both the faces of Sora and Mei appeared in my mind.

Oh yeah, I should probably tell them about what had happened the other day. I get the feeling that they were pretty worried about me since I did not even entered the class after recess and also the clubroom after school.

But how should I tell them? I don't have their e-mail address nor their phone number. Oh wait, Mei's house is just next door.

Leaving a note to my dad that was still sleeping in the room, I walked out of the house.

It's 8 in the morning so I am pretty sure that Mei would be awake. She has that face that shows that she is an early bird though I could be wrong. But it wouldn't hurt to try, right?

The house gate was open for some reason. I guessed that they forgot to close it? Or did she or a family member of hers went out and forgot to close it? I don't know. I'm just trying to be positive.

I rang the doorbell and I could hear footsteps running towards the door.

"I'm coming! Wait for a second!"

That voice was definitely Mei's.

When the door opened, my guess was right as the owner of the voice and the one opening the door was indeed Mei. I tried to greet her but she immediately cut me off.

"Good-"

"k-Kyouhei-kun?!"

"w-Who?!"

At the far back, I could hear a third voice and I somehow regret figuring out who the owner of the voice was.

It was Sora's.

To say I was surprised was an understatement. Why would Sora even be here in Mei's house so early in the morning?

Mei had nervously invited me into the house and she led me to the living room where I saw Sora sitting there with his eyes wide in shock.

"Why are you so surprised looking at me?"

"b-But Kyouhei! You were absent after recess so I thought you had gone rogue or probably died or something!"

"Don't just kill me off just like that!"

"Haha. But you don't look like you've changed Kyouhei-kun. We're glad. Sora-kun was even prepared to go to the ends of earth to save you in case you had gone rogue."

"..what do you two take me for?"

Both of them didn't reply or anything, they just laughed it all. I didn't want to know the answer anyway.
