"Did you know that tomorrow is Mei's Birthday?"
"Say what?"
"Mei! Mei's birthday! Its tomorrow!"
I stared blankly at Sora who was frantically jumping in excitement in this library. I don't know how he is not caught by the librarian for this act... oh wait, I forgot. We are in this secret spot I brought him into. No matter how you do it, no soul could enter this place unless if they really feel like wanting to search for it.
"So~ with that in mind, I was thinking of doing a birthday party for her! What do you think?"
"A birthday party? You sure? I mean, Mei doesn't look like the type that likes attentions.."
"Aw, come on! Who wouldn't like having a celebration party for their birthday?"
If it's organised by you, I would. But I did not have the heart to say that. After all, even though it was a disaster, mostly having me being the victim, the birthday party he did for me and Touko was a very memorable one..... minus the exploding cake.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.."
"Yes! I knew you would agree to it!"
"But! No exploding cake!"
"Ah! He... hehe. At that time, I was thinking how to make the party 'explosive' you know what I'm saying here? I.. I didn't really meant it in a literal way..."
"Sigh. Oh well. Let bygones be bygones. So? What do you have in mind?"
"Ah! I was thinking about..."
I practically zoned out throughout the rest of the conversation cause in the end, he would just force me to accept his idea and then we would discuss it with the others. Long story short, my voice is none of their concern. As long as I got involved, that would be more than enough. Not that I mind these kinds of treatment. I am never one to have a good idea for social activities such as these...
By the time Sora had finished talking, he slumped back on his seat with a satisfied grin on his face. When I took a good look atv his face, that was when I realised something. He was wearing that blue hairpin.
"Sora... where did you get that blue hairpin?"
"Huh? This? To tell you the truth, I dunno. It just happens. When ai looked into my drawer, there it was. I couldn't help but feel like wanting to wear it you know."
"Huh...."
"Why? What's the matter?"
"It's just..."
I bit my thumb in hesitation. What I had in mind was nothing more than a far-fetched conclusion. It was just a child's dream. My hope akin to an impossible wish... after all, what I had in mind was..
"Kyouhei."
"H-huh?!"
"Sorry for startling you. It's just.. this is about the dream world, isn't it?"
I looked down at my clenched fist with beads of sweat forming on my forehead. What Sora said was true but even so, connecting this world with my dream world... even if it could at least bring some hope.. even a genius like me knows that it is just a stupid dream...
"Kyouhei. It's okay. Just tell me. I'm your best friend, after all."
The fire in Sora eyes and the truth in his words could have possible be the reason for me to voice out my selfishness. It thought that maybe he wouldn't laugh at this stupidity of mine...
"That hairclip.... Haruhi gave it to you. As a present."
In the beginning of my sentence, I averted my eyes away from him but as I slowly looked up at him, I saw his face having an 'o' expression and soon a smile graced itself on his face.
"Haruhi, huh? The girl you fell in love with?"
"... yeah."
"It might be true."
"Huh?"
"Like I said, it might be true. Though logically speaking, it doesn't make sense actually. I mean, Haruhi was the girl that I fell in love with in your dream world right? Well, in reality, I love Airi and I still do even now, but never has she once gave me a blue hairclip as a gift.... so it might be true!"
"... when you make it look like that, it really does sound illogical."
"Geh. I was trying to help you. Buu. What I was saying is, maybe, just maybe, your dream world was so full of strong emotions that it resonates with this world! Have you ever thought like that?"
"...resonate...huh?"
"I mean, it might be possible. After all, your name is Kyouhei!"
"Urgh. That sounds stupid."
"Haha. Well~ since we are on that topic.. this place, you found it in your dream world right?"
"Wha- How did you.."
"It shows on your face. I mean, when you brought me here, you had this eyes full of longing and it was as if you were looking at some place far, far away."
"Ouh..."
"You know, I'm surprised! I mean this place is so out of place and so hidden that it fits to be in The Seven Wonders of this school!"
"Seven wond- what?"
"Haha! I mean it is possible! Though so far there has only been only one wonder other than this..."
"Then there's no need for the grand title of 'The Seven Wonders' if there's only one!"
"I couldn't help it! It's top grossing in this school! So far, only one was confirmed to be true while the others were just stupid occult club members staging it!"
"Occult members... staging it? Wow, they must be desperate."
"Right? Well speaking of which, it's been awhile since I've last heard of anyone talking about the first wonder..."
"The first? What is it about?"
"Hm? Oho, so you're interested, hm~?"
"Ah, shut up and tell me!"
"Haha! Okay, okay. Let's see... ah! It began as a rumour at first, that this school has a spirit wandering around. A girl spirit. They say that this spirit wanders around empty hallways during after school hours. According to eye witnesses, this girl would walk around in a drunken rhythm and if it's spots anyone, it would try to reach out to them."
"Weren't they just confused by some other students in this school. Maybe that girl needed some help."
"Ah, but here's the thing, some who had stood still when the girl reached out to them caught sight of the girl in a clearer view... and guess what they saw?"
".... what?"
"The girl's body was transparent and she was glowing!"
To add more to the horror effect, Sora practically screamed the last few words in an attempt to scare me but no matter how you look at it.. it's not scary at all.
"What? That's it?"
"Sigh. Unfortunately that's it. The only reason why this one made it as one of the seven wonders because there were so many eye witnesses. Some say it is just a peaceful spirit of someone that died in school. But that is just impossible. Who could possibly die in peace at school?"
"True.... say these eye witnesses, did they say anything about after what they saw?"
"Well it's nothing too amazing. That girl just vanished to thin air when she was a few feet in front of them."
...vanished.. into thin air?... no, that can't be true...
