Chapter 20: Shooting Star

"You sure it's a great idea?"

"Who knows."

"Well what do you think about it, Kyouhei-kun?"

"What do I think about what?"

"About Sora-kun and Haruhi-chan."

"Like I said, who knows."

"I see.."

"But one thing is certain though. They won't go back to how they used to be. In the past, Sora was in love with Haru but Haru rejected him because she only sees him as a best friend. If they go back to how they used to be, Sora would still love Haru even though he knows that Haru doesn't see him that way. That would just be painful for him. In such, going back to how they used to be, that is just impossible."

"Then.. why did you agree on helping them? Both Sora and Haruhi wanted to go back to how they used to be, right?"

"True. But I never did it because of that. In the end, those two wanted to be friends. So instead of helping them go back to how they used to be, I had them face each other and put an end to their past so that they can begin anew."

"...I'm amazed."

"Why?"

"Well to think you would put so much thought into helping the both of them. Kyouhei-kun, you really do care for the both of them, don't you."

"Who knows.. but I mostly did it because they were chasing after the past. There's nothing more stupid than that. You'll only hurt yourself more-"

"But if the past had so much wonderful moments, its not a bad thing to chase after it, right?"

"...you're surprisingly optimistic."

"Hehe."

Honestly speaking, I feel as though that there is more to Mei than what meets the eye. She first appeared to me as someone timid and weak. But once you warmed up to her, she is the opposite of those.

Not only that, she usually worries about lots of stuff in the past few days that I had been around her so I figured she was a pure pessimist. But lo and behold, she can be really optimistic if she wants to..

I wouldn't be surprised if she has been keeping something even bigger of a secret than I could possibly imagine.

Somehow, deep inside, I fear that Mei is someone dangerous.

But that could just be my imagination..

"Say, Kyouhei-kun."

"Hm?"

"What do you think of Haruhi-chan? Do you love her?"

"Wha-"

The sudden question surprised me in a level that I could not even think of. I could just feel my temperature rising. Love her? Why?

Just the sudden thought of loving her, memories of the date I had with her keot flashing in my mind. No! Shut up! You stupid brain! Stop flashing me these images! Are you trying to overload me?!

Great, I'm arguing with my brain. How genius.

"Hihi. A blushing Kyouhei is kinda cute. Aw, is the thought of loving Haruhi bring you such joy?"

This girl! I knew it! She's dangerous! She really is a dangerous! I never knew she was capable of teasing people to such an extent!
