"Say, Kyouhei-kun. Do you have any regrets?"
"Regrets?"
"Yes. I mean, you're leave from the dream world is rather abrupt don't you think? Do you think you have any regret from that?"
"Regrets, huh? Well even if I do have any, the world itself is merely an illusion so any regrets I have could only be an illusion as well."
"Even being apart from Haruhi?"
".... I... she's not real..."
"Even so, does your heart agrees with you?"
"... why the sudden delicate topic? It's not like you, Mei."
"Kyouhei-kun, you are running away from the subject."
"I didn't mean it like that! It's just... I'm not even sure about the days that I had been through at "that" place..."
"So you're lost, right?"
"More or less."
"Well forget about that world, how about life. Do you have any regrets in life?"
"Huh? You do realise that is a delicate subject."
"Ceh, you are no fun, Kyouhei-kun."
"Sigh. Well... If I were to have one regret, that would be the fact that I realised everything too late."
"Kyouhei-kun..."
It was in the middle of summer, during the Literature Club's first ever summer camp. The cool breeze that blew passed us under the hot blazing sun was calm. Everything was peaceful and full of life. It was like a calm before a storm.
Little did I know in this very camp, I would come to know the reason to Kyouhei's regret and the story that happened in his life... his story.
"Ah! Finally, we got into a train."
"Sorry that I made you wait with me under that hot weather."
"Well I was wondering why you had made me tag along just to buy soft drinks at the stop buy who would have thought that you would try to escape from the others like that "
"Haha. Well thanks to that, we got ourselves a peaceful and quiet ride to wherever you lot are taking me to."
"That is mean thing to say, Kyouhei-kun!"
"Geh."
I guess Kyouhei was not entirely to blame. Sora and the others can be quite..... loud sometimes. I mean, throughout the ride they kept bombarding Kyouhei about the world he had experienced. I was curious as much but I did not miss the slight presence of hurt in his eyes when the topic is brought up. Maybe it has to do with this Haruhi person.
According to Kyouhei, this Haruhi person was the one that fell down the rooftop instead of him but that was merely an illusion. Though he did believe it was truly an illusion after waking up, some parts of him was still skeptical about it. It was like he did not want to let go of it. Of course, I would not blame him though. This Haruhi girl was the one that gave him the will to live...
...though just how important was Haruhi to Kyouhei?
In the end, I could not ask as much since it would be like reopening closed wounds...
"Well, it's been awhile since it was just the two of us."
Kyouhei decided to break the silence that had somehow enveloped the two of us in this train as he had a small smile on his face. Though somehow, I felt a sudden static vision appearing in my mind in just glimpse but it disappeared after I blinked and was brought back to reality.
